They lost in the 2A State Championship game in 2019 and they won 2A State Championship in 2020. Head Coach Darrell Higgins does a great job developing players, and the 2021 squad is loaded with talent. The Panthers took on Hatton High School on Friday night. After Mars Hill took a 60-0 lead in the 3rd quarter, subs were brought in and the starters had the rest of the night off. Here are some of the players that helped give them the 60-12 win on Friday, and players that can contribute in college.
OL Koby Keenum Koby Keenum 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Mars Hill Bible | 2023 State AL , Mars Hill Bible School – C/O 2023
6’4″ 285lbs
When Koby Keenum Koby Keenum 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Mars Hill Bible | 2023 State AL walks out of the locker room, it’s clear that you are looking at a D1 prospect. Even without pads on he looks the part. He plays LT and RT for the Panthers. Keenum has violent hands and he punishes defenders in the way he finishes blocks. His movement is excellent! While he excels in all aspects of offensive line play, his run-blocking is off the charts. He currently holds 8 Power-5 offers, but I expect many more offers to come his way in the next year!

WR/DB Damian Thompson, Mars Hill Bible School – C/O 2024
6’0″ 165lbs
I had heard some buzz about the sophomore prospect at Mars Hill early in the season, so I wanted to get out and see what the hype was all about. Let’s just say that Damian Thompson lived up to the hype. He had 5 catches, 137 yards receiving, 3 receiving TDs, and 1 kickoff return TD in 3 quarters of play. Thompson is fast, runs great routes, elusive with the ball in his hands, and catches everything thrown his way. Coach Higgins told me that he is already hearing from Notre Dame and UGA. It’s clear that this young man will be one of the top prospects in the state of Alabama in a couple of years.

QB Griffin Hanson, Mars Hill Bible School – C/O 2024
5’10″ 165lbs
I wrote about Griffin Hanson in an article a couple of weeks ago. He obviously is extremely mature as a sophomore, because he already led his team to a State Championship as a 9th grader. He also played in the State Championship game as an 8th grader. Watching him command the offense on Friday night was impressive. He made great reads, and he threw the ball exactly where it needed to go. He only played 2 quarters, but he was 8/8 for 240 passing yards and 5 TDs. The most important stat for teams is wins and losses. Hanson is a winner!

DL/OL Jake McCluskey, Mars Hill Bible School – C/O 2022
6’0″ 240lbs
Jake is an every-down player for the Panthers. He plays offense and defense, but I think he can be a contributor for a D-III program on the defensive line. Jake is fast and aggressive, and he plays with an extremely high motor on every play. I love his attitude and how he approaches the game!

One to Watch:
DE Skyler Sterling, Mars Hill Bible School – C/O 2024
5’11″ 196lbs
Skyler is a guy that could develop into a really highly rated prospect in a couple of years. He’s quick and he was always in the backfield on Friday. He looks really fast and strong. If I were a college coach, I would make sure to check in on him next year.
