Seneca Valley vs Richard Montgomery
This is the game of the week and for good reason. Seneca looks to be on the rise with a very impressive 2-0 start. Richard Montgomery is a good program but they have to prove that they still are going to be a problem for the top dogs, they can do that if they beat Seneca this week.
Seneca Valley player to watch: Tylek Bright – Bright is a two-way star. On the defensive end, he makes plenty of plays in the backfield. Offensively he is a do it all type of back and is a big part of their offense. Bright can dominate this game and if he does Seneca will have a great chance to win.
Richard Montgomery player to watch: Marcus Pedone – Pedone has been putting up big numbers so far this season. He is RM’s most explosive player. Pedone is able to make plays in the slot and even in the return game on special teams. Expect him to get the ball a lot Friday night.
BCC vs Churchill
Both teams have looked much improved this season. BCC is coming off a huge win vs Richard Montgomery and a win here would put the county on notice. Churchill is 1-1 and a win over an undefeated BCC could be exactly what they need.
BCC player to watch: Shane Schwartz – Schwartz is probably the most physical player on this BCC team. He plays linebacker and fullback. He lays big hits on the defensive end. On the offensive end, he is not only a blocking back but he also has the ability to run the ball and even run routes out the backfield. He is a key piece to this BCC team.
Churchill player to watch: Jaden Selby – Selby had big expectations coming into this season and he has not disappointed. He has been fantastic for Churchill this season and he will have to have another big day for Churchill to overcome this scrappy BCC team.
Wootton vs Clarksburg
This is a big game for both of these teams Wootton has a great opportunity to win a tough road game and improve to 2-1. For Clarksburg, this is an opportunity to win their first game of the year in front of their home fans. This should be a competitive game that comes down to the wire.
Wootton player to watch: Chris Castelli Chris Castelli 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB Wooton | 2023 State MD – Castelli is a special talent. He is an important two-way starter for this Wootton team. On offense, he can lineup at tight end, but he also has the ability to lineup in the slot and create matchup problems for the defense. On the defensive side of the ball, he is a backer that is at his best when he is going downfield. He is a fantastic blitzer so expect him to blitz a lot this game.
Clarksburg player to watch: Aidan McCloskey – McCloskey is one of the best ball carriers in the county. Clarksburg would be wise to give him the ball. With his balance and power expect Clarksburg to try to pound in through the heart of the Wootton defense.
Quince Orchard vs Walter Johnson
This is an exciting matchup between two currently undefeated playoff teams. QO will be a heavy favorite but this Walter Johnson team has the talent to make it interesting.
Quince Orchard player to watch: Iverson Howard – Howard has been the best freshman in the county. He will be one to watch for the next 4 years. He will run the ball and play coverage on defense if he is called upon. Expect his speed to give Walter Johnson problems.
Walter Johnson player to watch: Amire Frye – Frye is a monster on the edge. He is great at setting the edge and getting off blocks. He is also a good pass rusher. He has all the tools to wreak havoc Friday night. Expect QO to run away from Frye as much as possible.
