Quince Orchard vs Damascus
This is the Montgomery County game of the week. These are the last 2 programs in the county to win a state championship. These two teams are always amongst the elite of the county and are both strong teams. Expect this to be a defensive slugfest.
Quince Orchard player to watch: Iverson Howard – Howard is Quince Orchard’s lead back and he has had a very impressive season so far. He has the speed to give Damascus problems. This could be another showcase game for Howard.
Damascus player to watch: Dillon Dunathan – Dunathan is an elite edge defender that does a great job of setting the edge. He also has the ability to rush the passer. On the offensive end Dunathan is a power back that is tough to bring down. Damascus will need a big game from Dunathan if they want to upset Quince Orchard.
Poolesville vs Rockville
This is a very good under-the-radar game. Poolesville comes into the game with a 2-1 record while Rockville comes in with an undefeated record. These are two good teams that can sneak into a high seed come playoff time.
Poolesville player to watch: Logan Marsh – Marsh is Poolesville’s top perimeter player on offense and defense. He will have the tough task of trying to neutralize Okeyo Ayungo. This will be an interesting matchup that will tell us a lot about how good Marsh really is.
Rockville player to watch: Erik Howard – Howard had big expectations coming into the season and he has not disappointed. He has put up big numbers and he will have another opportunity to put up big numbers this game.
Blake vs Watkins Mill
Both of these teams have taken a step back from where they were the past few years. This is a big game for both teams to try to grab some momentum before the home stretch and the final playoff push.
Blake player to watch: Stephen Forbin – Forbin has been a key piece of this Blake defense for years. He is very versatile so expect Blake to use him as a blitzer and also drop him into coverage when needed. Expect another solid performance.
Watkins Mill player to watch: Darrius Ellis – Ellis is a big lineman. He has great hands, footwork, and finishes off his blocks. He will need to be big on the inside for Watkins Mill.
Kennedy vs Northwood
The Kennedy Northwood game has developed into quite a rivalry. Both of these programs have struggled for years but every year this game is very competitive and both teams come out to play. This should be a fun close game.
Kennedy player to watch: Jerome Carey – Carey makes plays against tougher competition. He is great at getting skinny and getting into the backfield. Expect him to have a big game Friday.
Northwood player to watch: Colin Parker – Parker plays both ways for Northwood. He is a key player for them and they’re going to need him to step up big against this Kennedy team.
