Nicco Marchiol Nicco Marchiol 6'2" | 220 lbs | QB Hamilton | 2022 State AZ , QB, Hamilton ’22
If you tuned into ESPN on Friday night, then you’ll know why Marchiol is listed as the top performer. Marchiol’s resiliency and grit on Friday night was unmatched, as he led Hamilton to 18 points in under 2 minutes to upset nationally ranked #7 Bishop Gorman 25-24. He threw for 158 yards and 3 TD’s, and scrambled into the endzone for the game winning 2pt. conversion. Extremely tough kid as he was taking some serious shots all game. He delivered throws with solid placement and timing, and put on an extremely impressive performance on Friday night.
Tad Lynch, RB, Coolidge ’22
Lynch had a huge night as he ran for 366 yards and 6 TD’s on only 18 carries on the blowout win vs Phoenix Christian. Lynch showed good burst and acceleration when he cut upfield and was able to take numerous big runs to the house. Good vision and flashed solid COD and balance in traffic to frequently bounce loose outside and get upfield for huge gains. Phoenix Christian didn’t have an answer for Lynch, as he was flat out too fast and physical for the Phoenix Christian D.
Zach Hammett Zach Hammett 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB River Valley | 2022 State AZ , ATH, River Valley ’22
Hammett once again proved why he is among the top explosive players in 3A, as he recorded only 9 carries for 302 yards and 5 TD’s on a blowout win against Bourgade Catholic. He displayed excellent vision in narrow spaces with the ability to slip and weave through opponents. Excellent COD and twitch as he is very shifty in space and possesses top end speed to finish off big runs. He showcased numerous intangibles on Friday night to translate to the next level (burst, vision, twitch, COD, physicality at POC, top end speed) and is a very intriguing prospect to follow. Definitely needs to be on your radar by now as he continues to put up ridiculous numbers every week.
Traven Vigenser, WR, Sierra Linda ’23
Vigenser stepped up for Sierra Linda to establish himself as another weapon on that offense as he racked up 12 receptions for 259 yards and 2 TD’s to beat West Point. One of his TD’s came on a vertical route from the slot as he just flat out used speed to take the top off the West Point defense for six. He flashed excellent body control numerous times to adjust his body and make difficult catches. He was solid in the screen game as well flashing good COD and balance after the catch. Big night for Vigenser as he’s starting to introduce himself to 4A football here in AZ.
Ryan Finch, QB, Mountain Ridge ’22
Finch filled in for starter Brendan Anderson Brendan Anderson 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Mountain Ridge | 2023 State AZ , and stepped up when he needed to as he threw for 215 yards and 5 TD’s while adding 88 yards and a TD on the ground to comeback and beat Centennial 39-34. He did a good job on a deep ball on a vert down the sideline to throw with excellent touch, trajectory and placement for six, and also flashed the ability to extend plays and throw off-platform on Friday night as well.
Demond Williams Demond Williams 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Basha | 2024 State AZ , QB, Basha ’24
Williams put up 315 yards and a TD through the air and added 113 yards and 3 TD’s on the ground to beat Brophy 37-12. He did a great job reading zone coverages and going through progression to delivery accurate throws with good timing all night to pick apart the Brophy defense. He really showed his dual-threat ability as he flashed good top end speed in space and put numerous defenders on skates, showcasing excellent COD and lateral mobility.
