Zach Jorgensen Zach Jorgensen 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Fairmont | 2022 State MN Fairmont QB
Jorgensen is the best quarterback I have seen in the first couple of weeks. He completed a pass to wide receiver Levi Pooley on a third and 7 to pick up the first down. Then, he used his feet to cut back for 15 yards and a first down. Two of his best throws went for touchdowns. He hit a crossing route for a 46-yard touchdown. Later, he threw an absolute dart down the sidelines for a 62-yard touchdown. He showed his dual-threat capability and speed again by scrambling and cutting across the field for thirty yards. Under pressure, Jorgensen hit Eli Anderson Eli Anderson 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Fairmont | 2022 State MN on a crossing pattern for a 22-yard touchdown. Then he scrambled on third down to pick up a first down. He is not afraid to lower his shoulder for extra yards. His 42-yard touchdown run – in which he made three guys miss in the open field – might have been the best run – by any one – of the game.
Eli Anderson Eli Anderson 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Fairmont | 2022 State MN Fairmont WR
If Jorgensen wasn’t the best player on the field, his favorite target – Anderson – was. I highlighted most of his best offensive plays – (spoiler alert – watch for my defensive standout story later this week) earlier in this story. He showed his route running and separation on his 46-yard touchdown on a crossing route. He showed his speed and hands when he was covered but found another gear at the last second and made a great catch down the sidelines. It looked like he caught the ball below his waist without breaking stride. On a bubble screen, he made a move in the open field to get up field. Then, he made a nice block on a screen pass, On his third offensive touchdown, he caught a crossing pattern and used his speed to get separation. On touchdown catches alone, he racked up 130 yards on three catches.
David Buesgens Jordan RB
Although he is not the biggest running back, Buesgens was most effective running up the middle. He ran with a low pad level and showed his power when it took three or four guys to bring him down on a first-half run. On another run up the middle, he hurdled a diving defender for extra yards. Quick in the hole, he made a series of moves on a run up the middle that made multiple tacklers miss as he picked up twenty yards. He used his quick feet again, made more quick cuts on an inside run to set up first and goal.
Noah Millhouse Noah Millhouse 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Jordan | 2022 State MN Jordan QB
Early in the game, Millhouse threw a touchdown pass. Then, he threw a perfect pass into the hook zone for a first down. After throwing a short touchdown pass, he showed he could run too. He picked up first downs on a designed run and picked up ten yards. He showed his arm strength specifically on three throws – on a throw to the sidelines for 39 yards, when he put the ball into a tight window on a slant pattern. A penalty brought it back, but he showed his arm strength one more time on a fourth and seven, connecting on a deep out for 15 yards.
Quick hits
Owen Montreuil Jordan WR – a penalty brought it back but caught Millhouse’s 15-yard deep out on fourth and seven. He had to keep his feet in bounds while making the grab.
Hudson Artz Hudson Artz 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Fairmont | 2022 State MN Fairmont RB – caught a screen to pick up ten yards, runs with a low pad level, then made a catch in the flat, broke a tackle, and used his speed to pick up 40 yards.
David Maakestad Fairmont WR – showed great footwork after making a catch in the flat.
