Continue ReadingConference play heats up this week with plenty of great matchups taking place across the state of Arkansas. Both Farmington and Harrison come into this week’s game undefeated. Each team is looking to put the 5-A West Conference on notice this week. Harrison and Farmington have each started the season with impressive victories. This Friday night will help determine possible playoff positioning as the 5-A West gets conference play.
Starting our look at both teams with the Harrison Goblins. The Goblins have plenty of weapons on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Logan Plumlee Logan Plumlee 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Harrison | 2022 State AR has played well for the Goblins throwing seven touchdown passes and only one interception so far this season. Plumlee playing well has helped pull some tough victories out over the last few weeks. Meanwhile, Beck Jones and Brodee Gilliam have been a strong one-two punch at the running back spot. Gilliam has found the end zone three times and Jones once this season. The wide receivers are a dangerous group as well with Sloan Barrett has hauled in 17 receptions for 215 yards while Dylan Block Dylan Block 5'9" | 170 lbs | DB Harrison | 2022 State AR has caught 14 passes for 245 yards.
The Farmington offensive line are going to be forced to account for Harrison linebacker Cy Madden. Madden is a disruptive player that can live in an opponent’s backfield if not accounted for quickly. Barrett is not afraid to get physical with the opposing wide receiver and he has already picked off one pass on the season. The Harrison defense is always tough and scrappy, and this unit is not any different from the predecessors.
Looking next at the Farmington Cardinals, the Farmington offense has played very well in nonconference play. The play from both sides of the ball has been impressive over the past few weeks. At the quarterback spot, Cameron Vanzant Cameron Vanzant 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Farmington | 2024 State AR has proven to be an accurate quarterback with a strong arm. Vanzant is not afraid to use his legs to escape the pocket and pick up extra yardage. Running back Caden Elsik Caden Elsik 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Farmington | 2022 State AR has good speed and tremendous patience. He does a great job of allowing a rushing lane to develop. At the wide receiver spot, Devonte Donovan Devonte Donovan 6'3" | 175 lbs | WR Farmington | 2022 State AR does an impressive job of being able to high point the football. The Farmington offense has the guys to make life difficult for the Harrison defense on Friday.
On the defensive side of the ball, Farmington linebacker Braden Bullington Braden Bullington 6'1" | 200 lbs | DL Farmington | 2022 State AR was extremely disruptive against Springdale two weeks ago and will be looking to continue that level of play this week. Zach Ralston has the speed to get into the offensive backfield and will have to be accounted for on Friday night from the Harrison offensive line. This matchup is one of the best in the state on Friday and it is anybody’s game. Both teams need to avoid the turnover bug in order to pull this game out. Should be a great game.
