Here are the five guys under the spotlight this week …..
1. (DE) Kendyle Ball Kendyle Ball 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Davidson Academy | 2022 State TN (6’3 230) – Davidson Academy
– Through three games of the 2021 season, Ball has been a terror at defensive end that is giving offensive linemen fits and producing at a high level. The type of the way Ball is playing right now has him on the trajectory of being looked at and possibly offered by Division 1 programs. He looks bigger, stronger and even a step quicker after leading the entire state in sacks last season as a junior. Ball really took advantage of the offseason by developing his game and body and being prepared to step out on the field this year as a senior and dominate. So far, the Bears star defender is doing just that by plugging up the run and getting into the backfield on a consistent basis. Look for college programs to start taking a deeper look at this Middle Tennessee edge rusher.

2. (RB) Jamarious Brooks Jamarious Brooks 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Memp. Central | 2022 State TN (5’9 180) – Memphis Central
– Brooks has broken through this early season as a running back to watch the rest of the year. So far through three games, the Warriors star back has rushed for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns and along with teammate Quincy Briggs Quincy Briggs 5'10" | 190 lbs | ATH Memphis Central | 2022 State TN , gives Memphis Central a potent 1-2 punch on offense. What Brooks shows on film is a quick burst, no nonsense style of running along with the breakaway speed to find the end zone. He also has a strong lower base that makes it easy for him to break tackles and find his way through the mesh. Brooks can also return kicks as he has returned one for a touchdown this season. UT-Martin became the first team to offer Brooks on Wednesday and if he keeps putting up big numbers, expect others to follow suit.

3. (OL) Ben Caviness Ben Caviness 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Christian Brothers | 2022 State TN (6’4 275) – Christian Brothers
– The start of the 2021 season has been good for Caviness thus far and he has really done a nice job of enhancing his recruiting profile with his versatile play on the offensive line so far this year. If you look at his early season highlights, Caviness shows snaps at LG, RG and RT, so his Purple Wave team values his versatility as it’s needed up front. Caviness has improved his overall athleticism as it shows on film along with his attention to detail. The Memphis area O-lineman is playing with better technique and balance and it shows in these clips with his explosive blocking and ability to get into the second level. Caviness is still looking to break out into the college realm and if he continues to play like he currently is, the offers will certainly come his way.

4. (DB) Quatrell Black Quatrell Black 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Briarcrest Christian | 2022 State TN (5’10 185) – Briarcrest Christian
– This 2021 season is a big one for Black as he is looking to put himself on the map for possible college offers and his early season highlights certainly show a player working hard to make that happen. Black is a versatile defensive back that can play just about everywhere within the secondary. He is athletic and football smart, so you can plug him into a variety of roles and will excel. Black also plays an aggressive style of football. He will come up and hit ya and come back for more. The Saints defensive back doesn’t mind sticking his nose into the mush and getting dirty. Black also shows in these early clips the ability to stay outside at cover corner on the next level. This is an undervalued prospect that is really positioning himself with his early season work to be looked at harder by collegiate coaches.

5. (QB) Jacob Dooley Jacob Dooley 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Waverly Central | 2022 State TN (6’1 190) – Waverly Central
– Dooley is a true under the radar talent that if given the opportunity on the collegiate level to compete, the Tigers left handed quarterback would more than handle it, he would excel. Dooley is a calm, cool presence behind center that doesn’t get rattled nor panic when everything breaks down. He is an accurate passer that has a great feel for the action around him and what he needs to do to help his offense succeed. Dooley has good size too and the mobility to manage the pocket. He does need to keep improving his all around arm strength to push the ball down the field further but Dooley is a cerebral guy that can methodically manage his offense towards the end zone. Many coaches should take a deeper look at the Tigers signal caller as he brings a lot of value to the field and the quarterback room.
