Kevin Hornbeak – Whitmer – QB – 6’2″ 265 lbs
Hornbeak was able to lead Whitmer to a surprising beatdown of Findlay on Friday. He had a clean pocket most of the night and was able to sit back and pick the defense apart. He made a bunch of great throws, a handful of nice ones, and then a few he wishes he could have back. He is a big QB and he’s very hard to tackle. He’s not the best running QB, but when he gets going and full speed, he’s not easy to bring down. It was a fantastic performance in a game where everyone was watching.
Sam Lee – Central Catholic – WR/LB – 6’6″ 210 lbs
Lee played both ways on Friday but he really only impacted the game on the offensive side of the ball. Right before the half, the offense finally got going and Lee was the reason they were able to jumpstart the offense. He made an awesome grab on the sideline, broke a tackle, and raced into the endzone for the score. He wasn’t done yet as in the second half he was on the receiving end of 6 new 1st downs.
Logan Werner – Clay – RB/LB – 6’3″ 205 lbs
Due to injury and some other personnel issues, Werner got more work on Friday and he absolutely delivered. In the 1st quarter, he broke a run to the outside, made a defender miss, and found the endzone for the score. He was reliable on Friday and never once got tackled behind the line of scrimmage. He showed that he’s a pretty decent athlete out of the backfield as well.
Kamar Johnson – Lima Senior – RB – 5’8″ 165 lbs
Normally a Lima school wouldn’t be on the list, but they played in Toledo on Friday and Johnson made some plays worth recognition. He made one of the most incredible 20-yard TD runs you’ll ever see as well. He weaved through the defense, cut it back, and then dragged 2 defenders into the endzone with him. He later made another big run that helped ice the game for Lima Senior.
Connor Walendzak Connor Walendzak 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Perrysburg | 2023 OH – Perrysburg – RB – 5’11″ 195 lbs
Anytime you watch a Perrysburg game you’re looking for Walendzak and he always delivers. Friday was no different as a sliced Napoleon’s defense like swiss cheese. He was making guys miss, running them over, and fueling the entire stadium. Walendzak found the endzone early and never slowed. He shows elite acceleration and contact balance anytime he touches the ball. He’s a threat with the ball in his hands and Friday he helped carry Perrysburg to an easy win.
