Continue ReadingThe CHHS Bruins are undefeated after 4 games, and have several players who step up each game. In this article I will be breaking down 5 of the best performance through the first 4 weeks of play for Central Hardin. Also breaking down the skills of each player and how it has helped in the game mentioned for the performance or through the season ;
1) Treyvon Williams RB / WR (Sr.)
In week 2 Treyvon accumulated +100 rushing yards in 8 rushes, and 90 yards by catching 3 throws. Carrying a lot of the offensive drives in the blowout win for the Bruins. Williams used every move in the book, only having the ball 11 times but racking up nearly 200 yards and most them were through contact and after the catch. Great game for Williams and the Bruins O-Line unit, proving they are a dangerous force when everything starts rolling on the same page.
2) Zakery Spurrier QB (So.)
Week 3 had Zach Spurrier going 10 for 16 in passing attempts, totaling 170 yards and 1 TD. Zach was on fire this game, feeling each drive, slowly advancing down the field, mixed with some bombs down the field. Excellent awareness finding 6 different receivers throughout the game. Spurrier also was as consistent as you can be, as he never throw an interception and usually followed up an incomplete pass with a first down or running out of the pocket the next play, racking up 62 rushing yards as well (on 9 rush attempts).
3) Nolan Goodman LB (Sr.)
8 Tackles and only allowing 13 points, while also snagging 2 interceptions for another big win in week 3 for the Bruins. Returning one of the INTs for 6 points and most of his tackles being solo, Nolan did it all on defense, Apollo had no way to avoid Goodman either, he would wrap up the rushing attack and stealing the ball out of the air. Amazing game from Nolan Goodman and not a irregularly good performance, just above what we have come to expect from Nolan, which is dominating the opponents offense from anywhere on the field on defense.
4) Kaden Ferguson ILB / RB (Sr.)
Leading his team in tackles, and got 1 tackle for a big loss while holding the Trojans to 7 points in Week 4. Kaden wasn’t just leading his team on defense, he also had 9 carries that averaged 9 yards a carry (81 total rushing yards). Ferguson has several box scores where he is a top tackler and rusher, its a norm for him to lead his team in these categories, which could explain why Central Hardin is 4 – 0 and only allowed 26 points across 4 games.
5) Mason Thompson DB / RB (Sr.)
Mason like Ferguson is a Bruins centerpiece on defense, in the Bruins week 3 dominating performance over Apollo, he had a lot of talent shine through, Thompson had 6 solo tackles, intiating contact and wrapping up guys who would break away, while also assisting 3 tackles, making sure he played until the whistle on every play. Amazing performance that also seen 76 rushing yards paired with a rushing TD across 12 attempts. All in all a top 5 performance so far this season and more to come from Thompson in the future.
