There’s always a few players that stand out from the rest early in the season. Below we will highlight some players without college offers that really hit the ground running.
Donte Craggette-Drake – #1, 2022, WR, Old Mill
Stats: 5 receptions, 3TD’s , 165 yards
Donte is a very raw gifted athlete, he’s very twitchy and can play any position outside the tackles. After a torn ACL in 2019, and tweaking it again at Pylon (Phila.) 7v7 tournament, this kid is finally able to show what he can do. He shows good awareness and a good connection with his Quarterback as he converts two curl routes into deep receptions for TD’s. I expect this athlete to continue to get more targets as the year progresses, especially with that long awaited debut performance for the Patriots.

Travon Neal – #5, 2023, WR, Fredrick
Stats: 4TD’s (2nd All-Time School Record) , 152 receiving yards
Neal was exposed as Fredrick’s playmaker, getting touches on the ground, through the air, and on punt return. He also played corner for Fredrick where he made some impressive tackles. He demonstrates good speed and contested catch ability. The cadets show that they want to just get the ball to Neal in space with screen passes and jet sweeps.

Quavel Thornton – #1, 2022, WR, City College Highschool
Stats: 4TD’s, 1 INT, 250+ all-purpose yards
Get Thornton in space and let him do the rest of the work. This player showed up in our 2022 players to watch article and you can see why. Thornton is down right fast and shifty! Shown in his week one film as shakes multiple defenders with one move and jets to the end zone. His acceleration allows him to outrun angles on plays that should be negative or a very short gain. He is the City Knights weapon, playing WR,RB,PR, & Safety.

Jerimiah Lewis – #10, 2022, Archbishop Curley
Stats: 8+ tackles, FG block and recovery, 53 kick return yards
Lewis was all over the field for the Friars in their run heavy game versus Concordia Prep. Last season he played corner for the friars and had a productive season. This game he lined up as more of a rover/strong safety. He shows great strong safety play as he defended pass, lined up in the box , demonstrated sideline to sideline run support and met ball carriers at the line of scrimmage from his safety position. With his versatility and impact in specials teams Lewis is a valuable part of this Friars team.

Devin Roche Devin Roche 5'7" | 175 lbs | RB Dunbar | 2023 State MD – #3, 2022, RB, Dunbar
Stats: 4 TD’s 150 all purpose yards.
This particular athlete is a very explosive individual. I had the chance to see Devin play in a 7v7 tournament at Towson university in July and he by far passes the eyes test. His speed allows him to cover so much space that he even played defense for his team and made plays on both sides of the ball. In Dunbar’s 52-0 win over Digital Harbor we saw his explosiveness demonstrated on both a punt return and short touchdown run. He uses his speed as a threat, with a subtle hesitation step and acceleration he blows past defenders. He is not just all speed, his strength and body size for his height allows him to run over would be tacklers on his way to the end zone. This past July he had a visit with NC State, if he continues to perform an offer should be coming soon. Definitely a player you want on your team.
