Here is a look at this week’s top performers:
Gage Moskovitz | Vernon
Moskovitz averaged more than 10 yards per carry last week as he rushed the ball 31 times for 311 yards and four touchdowns. He helped his team to a 33-12 victory by scoring on runs of 1, 12, 20 and 40 yards.
Analysis: Moskovitz is a back who showcases good vision and balance. He has the speed and power to fight past defenders and does a nice job in planting his foot and taking off in cutback situations.
Nick Tartamosa | Gateway
Tartamosa had his biggest showing of the season so far as he rushed the ball 32 times for 284 yards and two scores. It was his two fourth quarter scores from 12 and 45-yards that helped Gateway to victory as they defeated Haddon Township 36-22.
Analysis: Tartamosa is another one who gets north and south in a hurry and hits the hole hard. He’s got the vision and ability to make guys miss at the second level.
Jamie Mazzacco | Shore
The talented running back rushed for 269 yards on 32 carries and scored three touchdowns. He averaged 8.4 yards per carry and scored from 2, 12 and 16-yards out as he scored all three touchdowns for Shore in a 21-8 victory over Manchester Township.
Analysis: Mazzacco is a downhill runner who is not afraid to initiate contact. He’s quick to hit the hole, always keeps his feet moving and always falls forward when being tackled.
Aly Marzouk Aly Marzouk RB Seacaucus | 2023 NJ | Secaucus
Marzouk averaged 14.4 yards per carry as he scored four touchdowns on 18 carries. He ran wild for 256-yards as he scored from 2, 3, 16 and 70 yards. He also caught an 89-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Garcia Kyle Garcia DB Seacaucus | 2023 NJ for the first score of the game.
Analysis: Marzou is deadly in space as his coaches do a good job of stretching the field and letting him use his speed to blow past the defenders. They feature him in both the slot and in the backfield and he’s patient in allowing his lineman to block downfield and find the seam for large chunks of yards.
Anthony DiLascio | Hasbrouck Heights
DiLascio has been the workhorse for Hasbrouck Heights so far this season as he’s amassed 421 yards on 37 carries through two games. This past weekend he rushed 20 times for 256 yards and two scores as he punched it in from 8 and 80 yards in a 28-0 victory over Cresskill.
Analysis: DiLascio is your typical bell-cow running back as he’s patient in his runs and gets north and south in a hurry. He’s not overly quick but he’s fundamentally sound and has the ability to add yards after contact.
