Regardless of competition, star players skill came out and balled like they are supposed to and many drew eyes from all over. In the Houston area, there are so many talented players who touch the field that it is easy to overlook a few, but just as a reminder, the more you ball the easier it is to find you. Below are a few offensive players in the Houston area who showed why they are deserving to be mentioned on this list and have been pretty consistent for the beginning of the season. We hope to have even more for every week and hope to see some fresh names on here as well.
RB Jerrell Wimbley (2022) – C.E. King
Wimbley finds himself on the list again for doing Wimbley things. In the game vs. Huntsville, Wimbley had 14 carries for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 38 and 36 yard scamper to the endzone. Wimbley just looks like a different beast when the ball is in his hands. He does not go down easily and is always a threat to break a long one for a score. Wimbley is physical and has another gear in the open field, and rarely gets caught when he sees nothing but green in front of him. Wimbley is a special player and he will continue to have a major impact on his teams success for the remainder of the season.
WR Seth Salverino (2023) – Cinco Ranch
Salverino had himself a night vs. Clear Falls and even though his team came up short, Salverino gave tremendous effort that could not be ignored. On the night Salverino hauled in 6 receptions for 165 yards, and 2 touchdowns with one being an amazing catch and run where he refused to go down, breaking tackles left and right as he powered his way in for a 61 yard touchdown catch. Salverino looked to be a safety net for his quarterback when he needed it, but was also a deep threat, challenging the secondary all game long. More than anything, Salverino showed heart along with his clean route running. He will be a prospect we keep eyes on.
RB Seth Davis Seth Davis 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB Katy | 2023 State TX (2023) – Katy
Davis is another familiar name that you will see often, mainly because Davis gets it done week in and week out. It is a regular thing for him now, and with an amazing offensive line and incredible lead blocking, he may not slow down. This week, Davis and his team had themselves a game. Davis ran for 227 yards on 30 carries with 2 touchdowns including some very impressive big gainers. We will see his name again in the future.
WR Matthew Golden Matthew Golden 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Klein Cain | 2022 State TX (2022) – Klein Cain
From the first play from scrimmage, Golden received a screen, and in a blink of an eye was in the endzone after a 75 yard catch and run. Golden simply just outran everybody on the Katy Taylor defense and that was just the start of his night. He caused havoc for most of the game for the Mustang defense. Golden had 8 receptions for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns. He showed his true athleticism with every catch and looked like one of the states’ best at that position.
RB D’Koreion (DK) Hammond (2022) – C.E. King
Hammond proved to be another lethal weapon and an excellent spell back for the Panthers offense. Hammond was gashing the Huntsville defense and did not allow them to catch a breath. He was finding the open running lanes and did not shy away from contact at all. Hammond had a long 78 yard run where he came just short of the endzone and another 58 yard run where he managed to score. On the night Hammond carried the ball 11 times for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hammond and Wimbley will be a serious issue for upcoming opponents.
