It’s a week where we’ve got likely playoff teams fighting for league positioning, and teams trying to rebound from a disappointing first half. It’s going to get absolutely beautiful up in Northern Michigan very soon, so why not check out some High School Football? Here are 4 of the best games going on this week.
Games to Watch
Boyne City (4-0) @ St. Francis (4-0) – Boyne has been good. Really really good. Scoring 155 points with only 25 points against this season, they’re a force in the North. They’ve got a great Junior QB in Jack Neer, and he’s going to have to play well against a good St. Francis defense that’s only given up 41 points. On St. Francis’s side, they’re riding high coming off a 60-0 win against Glen Lake. LB Joey Donahue is going to have his hands full against a great Boyne offense, but if there’s anyone that can stop that offense it just might be Joey.
Grayling (3-1) @ Kingsley (4-0) – Grayling and Kingsley are both great teams that are matched up incredibly well. Grayling has more talent than the usual Northern MI team, headlined by WR Dylan Cragg and RB David Millikin David Millikin 5'10" | 200 lbs | RB Grayling | 2022 MI . Kingsley on the other hand is undefeated and looking incredibly hot, outscoring opponents 176-29 to begin the season. One of the keys to success has been MLB/TE Brett Peterson Brett Peterson 6'2" | 210 lbs | TE Glen Lake | 2022 State MI .
Tawas Area (0-3) @ Cheboygan (1-3) – Neither team has come off to a good start, and both better start winning if they want to compete for the postseason. Tawas is led by RB Chad Herrick, and he’s very capable of dominating this one. On the other end, we have Cheboygan, where I’m looking at OT Tommy Jones to have a solid game.
Gaylord (2-2) @ Cadillac (3-1) – Gaylord travels to Cadillac in what’s going to be quite a measuring stick for both teams. Gaylord has started out ok, going 2-2 with losses against Lake Fenton, and a great Traverse City Central team. DT Landon Robbins for Gaylord is going to have to have a great game against Cadillac’s veer offense, and I’m confident he can be a force down low. As for Cadillac, I don’t see them as being as great as the state championship team last season, though they’ve gotten great, balanced production from their offense.
