Specifically, the statistical category of leaders in points throughout the state of Georgia is a crucial category when measuring players’ individual contributions to their teams. Often times, these points coincide with the state’s leaders in TD’s as well, which is commonly led by RB’s.
Dominick Cosper (90 points)- Trinity Christian (RB)
Cosper, who’s total of 90 points leads the entire state by a 12 point margin, has been a huge contributor to his team’s 5-0 record so far this season. In doing so, he has totaled over 490 yards, and 15 TD’s. These TD’s have come on carries in which Cosper has managed to average about 12 yards a gain. To add to this, Cosper also averages about 98 yards a game, making his amount of TD’s even more impressive when considering his season total of yards
Duke Watson (78 points)- Mary Persons (RB)
Watson, who has totaled 13 TD’s so far this year, is only 1 points away from being tied with Cosper for the most points in the state. Statistically, not only is this very impressive, but it can be seen that he is only a 2 TD difference away from Watson. Easily, this can be accomplished in one game. Despite Watson’s 78 points so far this year, his team has performed a bit average overall, as they have only achieved a 2-2 record to this point of the season. Regardless, he has been one of the more impressive players in the state, not just due to his total amount of points so far, but due to his 167 yards he has averaged per game. This average comes from his 671 total rushing yards so far this season. As the season progresses, if there was ever a player who could catch up to Cosper, and potentially pass him in the total amount of points, it would be Watson.
Johne’ss Davis (72 points)- Athens Christian (RB)
One TD away from being second place on this list lies Johne’ss Davis, who has already accumulated a total of 72 points for his team. These points come with 12 TD’s, and the 4th best rushing total in the state. Davis has already totaled 751 rushing yards, and averages about 187 yards a game, which has helped his team to achieve a 3-1 record. Perhaps, if Davis would have been able to put up TD’s in his team’s game against Mount Vernon last week, he may be either tied with Cosper for the most points in the state, or he would be tied for second place.
Zayden Walker (70 points)- Schley County (RB)
Walker is a key player for his team on both sides of the ball, as he not only leads his team in points, with 70 points, but he is also a crucial part of his team’s defense as well. Not only is Walker’s team already 4-0, but his 70 points have been a highlight to his team’s success, as he has managed to help his team control the ball on the ground. What makes this more impressive is the fact that he has done this while being able to produce on the defensive side of the ball as well. Because Walker has put up this total of points at this point of the season through only 4 games, we fully expect him to be able to catch up to the players who have had a total amount of points that is higher than his by only a slim margin.
