Even though Anderson has begun to make a name for himself as he has racked up his fair share of offers lately, Coleman Cauley becoming the leader of tackles in the state of Georgia has been quite a surprise. Because it is only week 5 of the regular season, we fully expect this list to continue to shake up a bit, as this is only the midway point of the season.
Coleman Cauley (74 tackles)- First Presbyterian (LB)
As mentioned above, many people did not expect Cauley to shoot up the list and eventually be the state’s leader in tackles going into week 6 of the regular season. So far, he only leads the state by 1 tackle, but it has been well deserved due to the way that he attacks the field, and every ball carrier that comes his way. Because of this attitude when he steps on the football field, he has helped his team to a 2-2 record, while also averaging about 18.5 tackles a game. Since Cauley leads the state in tackles with 1 game less than most other players, we expect him to continue to produce at a high rate, competing for the top spot on this list when it is all said and done.
Ty Anderson (73 tackles)- Thomasville (LB)
Anderson has produced for Thomasville High School like no other as he not only is second on this list, but he has also totaled 9 sacks so far this season as well. To add to this, his 73 total tackles comes with a large majority of them being solo tackles. Specifically, 51 of these tackles are solo tackles. To add to this, Anderson has also averaged over 14 tackles a game, making it highly likely that he will continue to be a stud for his team’s defense moving forward. If there is any player to track out of this list as the year goes by, Anderson is definitely that player.
Tyler Goddard (73 tackles)- Cherokee (LB)
Watching Goddard continue to be on this list over the weeks has been impressive. Not only is he tied for second place in the state when it comes to total tackles, but his defensive efforts have helped his team to a 2-3 record. While this may be a losing record, his team would not have been able to make any of the key stops in their wins without him. To add to this, out of his 73 total tackles, about 49 of them have been solo tackles. With this, he has also helped his team to average about 14.6 tackles a game. Moving forward, we expect him to continue to be on this list, but he will likely need another big defensive performance to push himself to an opportunity to be at the top of this list.
Derrell Farrar (64 tackles)- Grayson (LB)
Farrar is the second returning player on this list since our last installment of the series, but he has begun to slip in total tackles compared to some of his competition. At this point of the season, he has totaled a solid 64 tackles over the span of 5 games, and has helped his team achieve a 4-1 record going into week 6 of the regular season. Overall, Farrar has been impressive for his team, as he has averaged about 12.8 tackles a game, with 32 of his total tackles being solo tackles. If Farrar can manage to have a high tackle total in the upcoming game, not only will he have a shot at climbing up the list, but he will also be able to fend off the 5th place person on the total tackles list, who has 62 tackles at this point of the season.
