October is a big month at Prep Redzone Oklahoma. Now that we’re at the halfway point of the regular season, we have a good idea of what’s going on across the state. So it’s a perfect time to update the prospect rankings throughout the various classes, and for the 2025 group, it’s time to launch the first watch list. While we could put a ranking out for the 2025 group, we just don’t think it’s right considering these prospects have AT BEST six games of varsity experience and for some, it’s less. So for now, we’ve launched the first 2025 Watch List, which will be updated to rankings later on. And in this feature, we put a spotlight on the quarterbacks who have wasted no time getting on the field and are now in control of their offenses. Earlier this week, we released a two-part feature on 2025 standouts that are not at the QB spot. To check out Part 1, Click Here. To check out Part 2, Click Here. Stay tuned to Prep Redzone Oklahoma and check back every Monday, when we update the rankings for the 2024, 2023 and 2022 classes!

. We really like Bethel as a dark horse team to watch out for in Class 2A and Tapley is just one of many reasons why. Out of the freshmen quarterbacks on this list, Tapley might be the one that was set up for the most success as he’s surrounded by plenty of talent. In the first five games, Tapley has thrown for nearly 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns with only two interceptions. Tapley has been making an impact immediately and has taken care of the ball. Tapley has some serious playmakers around him and that certainly has an impact on those numbers but he’s making things happen. We’re interested to see how Tapley and Bethel look this week as they were absolutely blown out by powerhouse Washington last week. If Tapley shrugs it off and has a big bounce back week, it’s hard to not think he’s the real deal.

. However, for everyone else in the state, McComb might be the next big thing at Edmond Memorial. McComb came into this year with plenty of hype around him and he’s backed it up so far. He got his first start in week five and he’s looking to hold on to the starting position for the rest of the season. It’s been a struggle in the win-loss column for the Bulldogs in the last few years and it’s not much better this year. However, McComb gives the Bulldogs plenty of hope that they will be turning things around very soon. McComb looks the part and is just going to continue getting better. He’s been thrown into the fire now, starting for a 6A-1 program. If he uses this year’s experiences to make him better, watch out for the next few years.

. The Roughers participated in the Trojan Preview at Jenks and their mini game ended with a last second victory over Carl Albert. Throughout the scrimmages and mini game, Ficklin was throwing it all over the field. He already looks good physically and he has some outstanding arm strength as he was putting the ball all over the field against a variety of defenses. He’s coming off a shootout last week against Sand Springs where he threw for well over 300 yards in the loss to the Sandites. Ficklin absolutely looks the part already and the ceiling is incredibly high. In fact, Muskogee has several young standouts so the future is very bright for the Roughers.

of Jenks. It was pretty easy to be on the radar after reporting a D1 offer from San Jose State before you’ve even entered high school. Reisig battled it out with Ike Owens and eventually became the starter for the Trojans in week two against rival Union. Reisig certainly looks the part of a young quarterback star in the making but it’s still so early. However, the fact that Reisig’s first start came in one of the biggest games of the year against Union and he didn’t know that he was starting until the morning of the game, that says a lot about the confidence that this Jenks staff has in their young quarterback. He’s now leading the top ranked defending champions in 6A-1 and the expectations are for another title.

. Elgin has been one of the surprise teams of the 2021 season and if you read our Midseason Recap, you’ll see that they are in one of the most competitive districts in the state. Elgin got plenty of attention right away when they knocked off Anadarko in a shootout. They continued that last week after stunning Weatherford. This is an Elgin team that won zero games in 2020 and they’re off to a stronger start this year and the future is bright with Lorah at the quarterback position. Lorah has put up some decent numbers in the Elgin offense but it’s obvious that his best games are ahead of him. The Owls are making things even more complicated in a loaded 4A district this year and over the next three years, they’ll be leaning on their young QB to take them back to the playoffs.
