Even though the Homewood Patriots’ night did not go as planned, they played very aggressively and extremely hard each and every play against the Mountain Brook Spartans.I have put together a watchlist of the Homewood Patriots’ top offensive weapons. That list of athletes played extremely well this past Friday night, but there are so many different athletes on this Homewood team that played in the spotlight versus the Mountain Brook high school Spartans.
Charlie Reeves, WR, No. 9
This wide receiver for the Homewood Patriots came into the game and lit it up. This kid was running routes so swiftly and aggressively and breaking through every defensive back there was. Reeves had 3 catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns with a breakaway touchdown for 66 yards. This kid had precise and equipped route-running skills that allowed him to be wide open for a lot of passes. His hands were so good at coming off of the ball, swiping, and swimming defensive backs on the fly where he could get open to make plays. I think this kid’s techniques took him a long way in playing this game. I really enjoyed watching this kid and I believe he is a top prospect for the Spartans. Reeves is a class of 2023 wide receiver that has a long way to go but will eventually evolve to a very high level soon, and in my opinion, I think he is already there.

Harvey Ray Harvey Ray 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Homewood | 2022 State AL , TE, No. 15
Harvey Ray Harvey Ray 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Homewood | 2022 State AL is a class of 2022 tight end for the Homewood high school football team. This kid is a three-star prospect for the Patriots who is an all-around player that can do everything under the sun. Harvey Ray Harvey Ray 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Homewood | 2022 State AL ’s performance Friday night versus the Mountain Brook high school Spartans wasn’t up to par, far as stats go. This kid is more than just a ball-catching tight end, but he is an excellent blocker. This kid was creating holes left and right for the Patriots, allowing his teammates to thrive and gain positive yards for the team. This kid has every bit of physical ability that carries him and his teammates to a higher level each and every night. Harvey was also selected for the Alabama versus Mississippi All-Star game, where he stands with six offers from places like Jacksonville State, Arkansas State, Southern Mississippi, UT Martin, New Mexico, and North Alabama lions. I feel that this kid will be getting more offers closer to the end of the season. I honestly feel that this kid is not done yet in proving his dominance at the tight end position.

Woods Ray Woods Ray 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Homewood | 2023 State AL , QB, No. 13
Woods Ray Woods Ray 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Homewood | 2023 State AL is one of those quarterbacks that does not disappoint. Even though the game did not go as planned, he managed to get 10 completions on 20 attempts for 136 yards, with the longest being a 66-yard completion pass to Charlie Reeves, and also two passing touchdowns. This kid is a rising quarterback in the state of Alabama and will continue to be big for the Homewood Patriots. He currently class of 2023 Athlete that sits at one offer from the UAB Blazers out of Birmingham, Alabama. This kid will always continue to grow and develop into an elite quarterback in the state, and I cannot imagine how many more offers this kid will rack up.

Defensive Top Prospects
The Homewood Patriots’ defensive players played a heck of a game, even though the outcome wasn’t great. This defensive unit had a lot of contributors that played big roles in this game versus the Mountain Brook Spartans. There were some new faces that really jumped the gun during this matchup for the Homewood Patriots. The amount of aggression and willingness the Homewood Patriots defense was giving was straightforward, but there were some faces that were making some really big moves out there on the field for the Patriots. The Homewood Patriots defense has a lot of veterans that are equipped to step up to the plate and be what is needed for the whole operation crew of the Patriots defense.
Clay Burdeshaw, No. 17, DB
Clay Burdeshaw was all over the field with a total of 9 tackles. Clay also had 6 solo tackles and 3 assisting tackles. This kid was putting pressure on anyone who had the ball, and it showed in his stats. Clay is a senior for the Patriots who brings his veteran mindset to the table to help his teammates continue to play better each and every play. This kid is an excellent ballplayer who only gets better with each and every game. This kid is most definitely a top rising defensive player for the Homewood Patriots.
Brian Condon, No. 14, DB
Last week, Brian Condon was a Homewood Patriots defense player to keep an eye on.Brian was a player who snuck into the conversation around town because of his incredible ability to cover any receiver while also making huge plays by tackling in open space. This kid led the team in tackles with a total of 10 tackles, also with five solo tackles and five assisting tackles. Every tackle that this kid made was because of his great technique of getting off blocks and crashing down into holes, shortening the space of whomever was running near him. This kid is really putting up large numbers each week for the Patriots, as he had seven total tackles the week before against Shades Valley high school. I’m also excited to see where this kid may land in the future and see what he brings to the table more during the Alabama high school athletic association playoffs.
Miller Chapman, No. 38, LB
Miller Chapman is a player that dominated the game versus the Mountain Brook Spartans. Chapman is a kid that brings high-intensity energy to the defensive side of the ball. Miller Chapman had five solo tackles and three assisting tackles. That makes a total of eight tackles during the Mountain Brook game. Chapman is already up to 30 solo tackles on the year with a total of 59 total tackles all the year as well with an average of 7.4 tackles per game. He also had a total of three sacks on the year with two forced fumbles as a junior for the Patriots. Chapman will continue to be an asset for the Patriots as the season continues. I think that this young stud could end up rising higher than expected, and could have a huge impact on a top program one day.
