The game started with a bang for the Jenks Trojans when Jalyn Stanford Jalyn Stanford 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Jenks | 2023 State OK took the opening kickoff into Edmond Santa Fe territory. Stanford would then join with his backfield mate, Jaiden Carroll Jaiden Carroll 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Jenks | 2023 State OK in helping the Trojans march inside the Wolves’ 10 yard line. Where Carroll would open the scoring not even two minutes into the game.
Those early signs pointed to Jenks controlling the game, but Edmond Santa Fe showed resolve in the first half as they slowed down Jenks’ offense three different drives in the first half. Unfortunately for the Wolves, a toe tapping interception by Cade Stacy Cade Stacy 6'2" | DB Jenks | 2022 State OK ended the first scoring threat for Santa Fe. They would recover thanks to touchdown passes to future OSU Cowboys, Tabry and Talyn Shettron Talyn Shettron 6'3" | WR Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK . The reception by Talyn even put Santa Fe up 14-10 with only a few minutes remaining in the first half.
With the Trojans trailing only minutes to go to the end of the half, freshman QB Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK stepped up to navigate Jenks into scoring territory by hitting big passes downfield. Those completions would lead to another short touchdown by Carroll and have the Trojans back in front just before the half ended.
In the second half, Jenks would dominate the game. They forced a quick Santa Fe punt to start the half. Then Carroll extended the lead early in the third quarter with his third touchdown of the night, this run was of a long breakaway variety. The next Wolves possession was another forced punt, which Ty Walls Ty Walls 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Jenks | 2023 State OK would return into Santa Fe territory. Santa Fe held Jenks to a field goal there that made it 27-14, giving the Wolves hope.
Edmond Santa Fe was able to march down the field with the aid of undisciplined penalties by Jenks. But a bad snap cost them precious yards in the red zone and they once again came away with no points. A big catch by Glenny Jones Glenny Jones 5'10" | ATH Jenks | 2022 State OK would flip the field for Jenks, and they would end the third quarter with Reisig finding Colby Parson on a crossing route. A successful two point conversion would make it 35-14.
Santa Fe would threaten once more in the final frame, but Stanford would snatch a late interception in the end zone to turn the Wolves away again. After a sluggish first half, Jenks would leave Edmond Santa Fe with no doubt thanks to their commanding second half performance.
Turning Point
After Talyn Shettron Talyn Shettron 6'3" | WR Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK ’s short touchdown reception, it looked like Jenks would go into the half trailing. Which was especially precarious as Santa Fe would receive the second half kickoff. With only a few minutes on the clock, the Trojans trusted their freshman QB Reisig to make the plays to lead them down the field. He delivered with good clock management and crucial third down conversions to set up the short touchdown from Carroll.
