Dylan Bisson Dylan Bisson 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Mountain Island Charter School | 2022 State NC , 5’11 175, QB- Mountain Island Charter
The guy that has to be considered a heavy favorite at this juncture is the classification’s leading passer, Mountain Island Charter’s Dylan Bisson Dylan Bisson 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Mountain Island Charter School | 2022 State NC . Bisson is averaging nearly 350 passing yards a game, amassing a staggering 2624 total yards and 25 touchdowns. He hasn’t just been a volume passer, as he’s only averaging 20 attempts a game, but picking up nearly 17 and a half yards per attempt. Two of his receivers lead the classification in yardage and he’s distributing the ball well, sharing his 22 touchdown passes between seven different pass catchers.
Logan Caldwell, 6’ 160, Ath.- Hayesville
Caldwell is one of the best 2-way players in the classification, ranking third in passing yards and first among defenders with six interceptions. He actually has more interceptions on defense than he’s thrown on offense. Caldwell’s Hayesville squad has improved as the season has gone on and his contributions on both side of the ball have a lot to do with that.
Justis Dorsett, 5’9 165, RB- North Moore
The best player on what looks like one of the classification’s best team deserves to be in the conversation for player of the year. He’s averaging eight yards a carry in non-conference play and has put up nearly 200 all-purpose yards a game. He has excellent vision which helps him make one cut and get vertical. He’s a threat to break a big run every play and is a big reason North Moore remains undefeated.
Levi Andrews Levi Andrews 6'4" | 250 lbs | DL Avery County | 2022 State NC , 6’3 240, LB- Avery County
Andrews has been on our radar for a while. He puts up huge tackle numbers every year and at 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, it’s easy to see why. He has 143 stops this season, nearly double the next-best number in the classification. While this season hasn’t gone as planned for Avery County, teams try to scheme around Andrews. He has great college potential and is a standout wrestler as well.
Reece Deaton, 5’10 180, Ath.- Mount Airy
Mount Airy has been nearly unstoppable on both sides of the ball this season and Deaton is a big reason why. Offensely, he’s mainly a blocker, but has averaged 15 yards a carry in limited opportunities. It’s on the defensive side of the ball where he’s shined though, as he’s racked up 17 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles on the year. He’s a big part of the reason Mount Airy has only given up 12 points all season.
