This season, they have averaged 33.5 points per game on offense while giving up an impressive 8.63 points per game on defense. The Rams are off this week but next week will face another undefeated team in Archbishop McNicholas in what should be easily one of the best games of the season for all of Ohio. Here are five of the Rams who have had an incredible season so far.
DL, Hunter Harrison Hunter Harrison 6'2" | 270 lbs | DL Hamilton Badin | 2022 OH , 6’2, 270
The Senior DL has been awesome this season. He plays as a DT/NT where he lines up primarily in a 1T. Against the run, he shows very good burst off the ball creating stress on the C and G in his first few steps, sheds the block easily and uses his good athletic ability in pursuit and uses his good form tackling ability and play strength to bring down the RB behind the line of scrimmage for a TFL. Against the pass, he fires out low showing good use of hands and play strength to bullrush the C back into the lap of the QB and gets his hands up to disrupt the passing lane of the QB.
DL, Logan Neu Logan Neu 6'2" | 230 lbs | DL Hamilton Badin | 2022 OH , 6’3, 235
The Senior DL is having a great season in 2021. He plays as a DE/DT where he lines up in a 3T as well as a 5T and 7T. Against the pass, he shows good burst off the ball, using his good play strength to bullrush the OT backwards and uses his hands effectively to shed the block. He shows good motor and play speed in pursuit and finishes off with a sack. Against the run, he easily overpowers the man in front of him, locates the ball carrier and delivers a punishing hit.
DB, Jeffrey Mata, 5’9, 170
The Senior DB has played well in 2021. He plays as a CB. Against the run, he uses his outstanding football intelligence to quickly key and diagnose the play, shows very good closing speed in pursuit, plays with good leverage and shows great form tackling as he brings down larger RB with ease. Against the pass, he effectively reads the QB while using his very good athletic ability to patrol his zone. He tracks the football well in the air and uses his very good play speed to get to the ball. He displays very good hands as he is able to high point the ball and make the catch for the interception.
WR, Braedyn Moore, 6’1, 170
The Junior WR has looked great in 2021. He plays as a slot WR. He shows good explosiveness off the line of scrimmage, displays fluid hips as he breaks off his stem and separates from his man. He tracks the ball well and displays good hands as he can make the catch on passes thrown on target with his hands easily. After the catch, he uses his good contact balance to break an attempted tackle and score a TD.
OL, Henry Birchwell, 6’0, 230
The Senior OL has played a big role in the success of Badin in 2021. He plays as a G. While run blocking, he uses his very good lateral quickness and agility to pull through the hole on power plays and displays very good play strength and use of hands to kick out the ILB creating a big running lane for the RB. When down blocking, he fires out low and uses his very good physical toughness to overpower the 3T and finishes the block to the ground for a pancake. In pass pro, he keeps his feet constantly moving while bending at the knee, delivers a quick and powerful punch to the blitzing LB and anchors well keeping a good distance between himself and the QB.
