Part I is coming out right now and part two will come out on Tuesday. Let’s learn more about Part I of our Big Dogs of the Game from Saturday night at Howard Wood Field!
Elliott Renville Elliott Renville 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL SF Lincoln | 2023 State | OL | Sioux Falls Lincoln (2023)
The notes I had on Elliott vs. the game tape I just watched in showed us in-person why he’s one of our top offensive linemen in the Dakotas. His shoving ability has gotten even better since I evaluated his tape this summer and he has that finisher mentality that speaks volumes of his game as an offensive guard. He worked his footwork to great range around the line and shows a continuous push no matter where he ends up on his blocks. He also showed violent hands and used his swiftness in his hands to throw D-linemen to the ground. A fantastic showing by this young man on Saturday night.
London Kolb | WR/DB | Sioux Falls Jefferson (2023)
I would say Kolb rates as one of the top two-way prospects we watched on Saturday night for the Cavaliers. He made a few key plays on offense in the slot and was one of Jefferson’s top WRs when you look at the stat line. His ability to make quick cuts and get to the middle of the field for a quick pass and catch make him a solid threat in Jefferson’s receiving core. When I watched London defensively, I just loved the grit this young man played with as he is what you expect out of your defensive back, a tremendous hitter that has good aim right in the cusp of the ball carrier. Look to see Kolb on our incoming Class of 2023 rankings, for sure as this kid has a college football future in my eyes.
Angel Jurshge Angel Jurshge 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB SF Lincoln | 2022 State | RB | Sioux Falls Lincoln (2022)
If you watched Angel on Saturday night, you could witness his grind between the tackles. He showed what a slippery runner he can be especially when he gets a lane away from the inside. There is a lot to like about his footwork, as he can sway defenders to lean in another direction with how active his feet turn. He is certainly a running back prospect that has a blue-collar work ethic and excellent character to go along with it. Another prospect in my eyes is a next-level talent.
Dawson Sechser Dawson Sechser 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2024 State SD | WR/LB | Sioux Falls Jefferson (2024)
Sechser started off his strong game by laying the wood as you would expect your hard-nosed outside linebacker to do and caused an early key turnover for the Cavaliers which resulted in a scoop and six by fellow linebacker Tayten Sanow Tayten Sanow 5'10" | 180 lbs | LB Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2023 State . There is a lot to like about this young man’s torque we saw on Saturday to go make a play. Sechser also logged a key interception to start off the game for the Cavaliers. When I rolled his film, I found out what a versatile threat Dawson is on both sides of the football. He has a strong tackling ability and has a good coverage area he can roam in and make plays on the ball. Offensively, I think he’s even more dynamic, as he has a great burst that runs downhill when the football is in his hands. Sechser you will see likely on our next 2024 rankings coming out in the next 3-4 weeks.
Kobe Lage | LB | Sioux Falls Lincoln (2022)
Lage had a key interception to seal the deal for the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots. When looking at Kobe’s film there is a lot to like about this kid. He makes solid reads with good ball skills while in coverage. He also shows good footwork in coverage and can cover some sufficient ground. Really like his hunger when he gets into the backfield, as he shows a big motor when he identifies where the football is. Also shows a really good setup stance I like to see in linebackers. Solid frame at 6’2 210 pounds that is somehow flying way under the radar.
Griffin Wilde Griffin Wilde 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2023 State | WR/DB | Sioux Falls Jefferson (2023)
Wilde had one heck of a game yesterday on kickoff returns. His first one went for 57 yards to start the game off and then he took in and scored on a 99-yard kickoff return. Griffin’s ability to work his feet is must-watch material. I don’t think it’s an understatement he has the best footwork amongst wide receivers we have seen on film in the Dakotas this season. Watching Wilde now from when the last time I watched him at a prospect camp in Sioux Falls, he looks like he’s improved his straight-line speed compared to the 4.6s he was running over the summer. There is no doubt in my mind this young man is a D1 prospect and has got the interest of FCS schools and is now catching eyes from the Big Ten.
Tyree Shorter Tyree Shorter 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2023 State | DB | Sioux Falls Lincoln (2023)
Shorter was very much a stockriser from Saturday night’s game in Sioux Falls. His ability to go over the top and make a play on the ball was fun to watch especially when he got an interception out of it. Really like how active this young man backpedal is when he’s going back into coverage. Tyree plays with such strong physicality and has great ball skills when he’s locked in on his receiver. I believe his time is right around the corner as far as getting some interest at the next level.
Samuel Hindbjorgen | TE/DE | Sioux Falls Lincoln (2023)
Hindjorgen was a TE/DE prospect that made a significant climb onto our radar on Saturday night at Howard Wood Field. He logged two sacks to my count for the Patriots and I really liked Sam’s skill set on both sides of the ball. When I rolled his film, I found even more skillsets college coaches should like. Standing at 6’3 220 pounds, he shows good speed off the snap and plays much lighter on the move. When he switched his role as a blocking tight end he showed a good pad level and used that lean yet powerful frame to his advantage to create leverage on his defenders. Hindjorgen is a player that will be a solid cushion as a short-yardage threat for the Patriots as he plays with longevity to extend plays for his quarterback.
