Thanks to the statistics provided by Maxpreps.com, we went ahead and looked at the top three leaders in passing, rushing, and receiving throughout 7 weeks this year and there is a ton of talent in these guys!
PASSING
Andrew Hunter- |6’2 170| |Randolph|
Andrew Hunter has been incredible this year for Randolph, using his great arm talent to accumulate 1,827 passing yards while also leading his team to a 7-1 record on the year. Randolph’s offense has been phenomenal this year as its passing attack underneath Hunter has shown to be near unstoppable. Randolph has definitely become a team to keep an eye on as the postseason nears.
Conner Harrell Conner Harrell 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Thompson | 2022 State AL – |6’1 180| |Thompson|
Conner Harrell Conner Harrell 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Thompson | 2022 State AL has continually gotten better and better throughout his career at Thompson, as the North Carolina commit has thrown for 26 touchdowns and 1,774 yards this season. Harrell is a key reason why Thompson has become a nationally renowned team, as his leadership has led them to an undefeated record in a tough 7A schedule.
Ryan Barger- |6’1 160| |Sipsey Valley|
Ryan Barger has developed into an extremely efficient passer his senior year at Sipsey Valley, consistently delivering the ball quickly and accurately to his receivers. Barger has thrown for 1,753 yards this season and has demonstrated he has the ability to lead and execute Sipsey Valley’s offense very well.
RUSHING
Joseph Anderson- |5’11 200| |Montevallo|
Joseph Anderson has put up video game numbers for Montevallo this season, rushing for 1,484 yards and 20 touchdowns while receiving 4 passes for 56 yards and 2 touchdowns. Anderson has been Montevallo’s offensive MVP and has been a large factor in why Montevallo has gone 5-2 so far this year. Anderson will definitely be seeing more opportunities at the next level soon.
Mason Cartee- |5’10 180| |Priceville|
Mason Cartee has been incredibly valuable for Priceville this year, rushing for 1,269 yards and 6 touchdowns. Cartee has great vision and awareness, always finding and following the right lanes and blocks to plow through for big gains, consistently moving the chains for the Priceville offense.
Jermarey Lawson- |6’0 175| |Vincent|
Jermarey Lawson has great breakaway speed that has been used by him countless times this season with all of the massive runs he has created. Lawson so far on the year has produced 1,238 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, with an additional 5 receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown.
RECEIVING
Dalton Bailey- |6’1 182| |Sipsey Valley|
Teammates with Ryan Barger, one of the state’s leading passers, Dalton Bailey has been an incredibly reliable recieving target in Sipsey Valley’s pass game. On the year so far, Bailey has accounted for 63 receptions for 1,248 yards and 14 of Ryan Barger’s touchdowns. Bailey has very good hands, catching almost everything in his vicinity, and will keep doing so for this talented aerial attack.
Knute Wood- |6’4 187| |Brooks|
Knute Wood is a massive, physical receiver for Brooks and his production this year proves it: 36 receptions for 926 yards and 5 touchdowns. Using his physicality, Wood is able to make tough contested catches, and has incredible yard after the catch ability, averaging 25.7 yards a catch. Wood has been near unstoppable in the 4A, helping Brooks to their current 7-0 record.
Omari Kelly Omari Kelly 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Hewitt-Trussville | 2022 State AL – |6’2 172| |Hewitt-Trussville|
Omari Kelly Omari Kelly 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Hewitt-Trussville | 2022 State AL has been nationally recognized for a while now, having recently committed to Auburn, Kelly keeps finding more ways to impress. His senior season has featured him bringing in 57 receptions for 857 yards and 6 touchdowns. Kelly has tremendous speed and hands that have greatly attributed to his success at Hewitt-Trussville and will continue to at the next level.
