Continue ReadingAll of the positional rankings will be based on collegiate projection much like the overall list. Have a look at how I would have Oregon’s QB’s ranked for the class of 2022 as of right now.
1. Dom Montiel Dom Montiel 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Marshfield | 2022 State OR 6-2 190 Marshfield (OFFERS: Portland St) – One of the fastest rising QB’s on the West coast. The very athletic Montiel just received his 1st D1 offer from PSU and is the overwhelming favorite for Oregon 4A POY honors. In 6 games he has hit on 66% of his passes (96/146), accounting for 30 TDs (27 passing, 3 rushing) and only 3 INTs.
2. Brian Mannion Brian Mannion 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Mountainside | 2022 State OR 6-2 190 Mountainside- As noted numerous times the last name speaks for itself. Mannion comes from a football family with NFL genes. I would project his best years are ahead of him with continued growth and development.
3. Jackson Jones Jackson Jones 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Tualatin | 2022 State OR 6-0 195 Tualatin- The returning 1st team all-league QB projects as a D1 kid at some level in my opinion. He has the strongest arm in the state, and has been consistent all year, throwing for 15 TDs and close to 300 yards per contest in 4 1/2 games played.
4. Jack Layne Jack Layne 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Lake Oswego | 2022 State OR 6-2 190 Lake Oswego- As of right now the favorite for Oregon 6A POY honors and probably the fastest rising offensive player in the state. He has been lights out all season, hitting on 80% of his passes with 22 TDs/3 INTs thus far. If he can continue this tear, he will have options at the next level.
5. Brooks Ferguson Brooks Ferguson 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB West Salem | 2022 State OR 6-6 215 West Salem- The son of Western Oregon head coach Arne Ferguson continues to get better every week. You can’t teach the size and some of the intangibles he brings to the table. He is an athletic big man who has a future collegiately.
6. Mikey Gibson Mikey Gibson 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Canby | 2022 State OR 6-2 200 Canby- One of the most athletic kids in the state. The three-sport athlete has for the most part been having his way with 5A competition, throwing 14 TDs/2 INTs heading into the past week. Head coach Jimmy Joyce has coached some big time D1 QBs and Gibson will have a shot collegiately, with the level yet to be determined.
7. Dondrae Fair Dondrae Fair 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Jefferson | 2022 State OR 6-0 190 Jefferson (OFFERS: Indiana, William & Mary)– The 3* QB has the ability to do some special things with his feet. From the standpoint of where he ends up positionally at the collegiate level is still unknown.
8. Hiro Diamond Hiro Diamond 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB Liberty | 2022 State OR 6-2 180 Liberty- Definitely one of the most versatile QB’s in the Pacific NW. He has put on a show half way through the season, averaging almost 9 yards per rush (1000 yards) and 18 total TDs, good for 2nd state. From a passing standpoint he has done well with 15 TDs but thrown too many INTs (9).
9. Logan Smith Logan Smith 6'4" | 175 lbs | QB Sprague | 2022 State OR 6-4 180 Sprague- Smith has good size and has helped the Olympians get back in the playoff mix. At mid-season (6 games in), he has hit on his 57% of his passes and 11 TDs. It will say a lot if he can lead the Oly’s to a couple playoff wins.
10. Jordan McCarty Jordan McCarty 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Silverton | 2022 State OR 6-1 185 Silverton- McCarty is well known as a three-year starter for one of the top 5A programs in the state. He is currently leading 5A Oregon in a host of statistical categories, showing off his dual threat status. On the year he has accounted for 24 TDs (16 passing, 8 rushing) in 7 games.
11. Chase Harmon Chase Harmon 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB West Linn | 2022 State OR 5-11 175 West Linn- Give this kid a lot of credit as an undersized QB. Statistically he was outstanding in his first 5 games, hitting on 73% of his passes (93/127 1,274 yards) for the traditional Oregon power. Look for smaller, high end academic schools, to be vying for his services (4.54 GPA).
12. Jakoby Moss Jakoby Moss 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Mt View | 2022 State OR 6-1 185 Mt View- The three-year starter and 2* QB is a super intelligent kid (4.0), but it hasn’t been the season they were hoping for, going 3-4 thus far. Moss still brings a lot to the table and could help lead a smaller collegiate program.
