Player Spotlight: Tennessee Future Stars MVP Tory Beaufort
Name: Tory Beaufort
Position: Running Back
School: Holston Middle School
Height: 5-foot-5
Weight: 130 pounds
Scouting Report: Beaufort is a small, shifty back who is a home run threat every time the ball is in his hands. Right now, he’s blessed to play behind a massive offensive line that allows for him to dip, duck, and dodge behind the big boys upfront in order to make plays happen. Beaufort shows efficient movements as far as jump cuts and cut-back ability and has the type of open field wiggle you want a smaller back to have.
He also shows the ability to be quick-footed in the hole to make first defender miss. Does a good job of cutting up-field and avoiding unnecessary hits and understand his limitations as not much of a power back. Perhaps his greatest asset are his hands and ability to play multiple positions. I would not be afraid to line him up in the slot or as a wing depending on offensive scheme. Certainly a weapon coaches would like to haven
Accolades and Honors: Beaufort has attended several local camps such as the Grace Camp, Powell Camp and Tennessee Legends camp, however his biggest honors to date are making the Tennessee Future Stars team and then being named offensive MVP of the team.
In that Tennessee Future Stars Game, the running back made the most of a crowded backfield and helped lead Tennessee over Kentucky in a 15-13 game. Beaufort was also a factor in the special teams game, with a number of nice kick returns in the back and forth matchup.
Quote: “I’m undecided on high school at this point, but I’d like to play at Powell High School, Knoxville Catholic or King’s Academy. My goal is to win a state championship and rush for 3,000 yards every year in high school.”
