I have had the opportunity to evaluate the Mountain Brook Spartans’ top offensive and defensive players against the Homewood High School Patriots. I have taken a closer look at some very talented offensive weapons for the Spartans. The Mountain Brook high school Spartans are a top 10 ranked team in the state of Alabama that has been competing at a very high-level due to some of these players that I am bringing forward. In this article. I have had my eyes on some of the players from the very beginning of the season, and the way that these athletes are evolving each and every week is so stunning. It is just how strong, fast, and athletic they are getting as the season goes on. Some of these guys I have talked about before, but there are some hidden jewels that are a part of this special Mountain Brook Spartans high school football team that have really played a very huge impact on their 49-14 win against the Homewood High School Patriots. These players have been evaluated statistically, athletically, and for their style of play. I have seen so many talented players over the years, and it is an honor to see these players grow to be better athletes in the future. Let’s get right to it, here is T.Spence’s top Mountain Brook offensive players versus the Homewood High School Patriots.
John Colvin John Colvin 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Mountain Brook | 2023 State AL , No.12, QB
John Colvin John Colvin 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Mountain Brook | 2023 State AL is a superstar for the Mountain Brook Spartans. This kid flies all over the field with such amazing aggression with his hands, eyes, and feet. Every single time I lay eyes on this quarterback, I see a top prospect for the class of 2023. John Coleman is a very special quarterback for the Spartans. He threw 9-13 passes for a total of 125 yards and two touchdowns. Per Colvin, his NCAA QB efficiency rating is 199.65, which is great for a quarterback in the state of Alabama in his first year as a varsity starter for the Spartans.

Cole Gamble, No.19, RB
Running back Cole Gamble: I heard this kid’s name a lot versus the Homewood High School Patriots. Cole Gamble is a running back that fits the Spartans’ game plan very well. This kid is a senior at blocking, route running, and toting that pig skin up and down the field. Cole carried the football like he was out to prove something to the state of Alabama. This kid is a class of 2024  running back for the Mountain Brook high school Spartans. He was running the football like he was a class of 2022 veteran out on the field against the Patriots. This kid has so much potential and skills to be a top running back in the state here sooner or later. Every week I look at all the stats, and I see so many new and amazing numbers on this kid with big runs for the Spartans that burst open to cause a touchdown for the team. Gamble is an under the radar stud that is rising higher each and every week, and going into the playoffs he will prove everyone that he is a top running back in the state of Alabama.

Reed Harradine, No.12, K/P
Reed Harradine is by far one of the best kickers I have laid eyes on this season. Reed has a very strong leg that gives him the ability to do what is needed each and every night. This kid is an excellent kicker who pushes the ball in the end zone and does not allow the opposite team to return the ball. Watching Reed versus the Homeword Patriots gave me a nationally ranked kicker vibe. Reed is a 6’3″, 195-pound pure-talented kicker and punter for the Spartans. Read punts the ball very well for the Spartans, laying the ball in excellent field position for the Spartan defense to make big plays on the opposing side of the field. Read is a 2023 kicker that will soon be offered by really big programs in the state and out of state.

Defensive Prospects
The Mountain Brook High School Spartans are led by a defense that puts their team on their back to have an all exclusive shut out win just about every week. This group of defensive players is filled with talent from the secondary and beyond, to the defensive line, as well as their second string players. This is a very strong group for the Spartans. When this group performs well, it allows their stamina to fuel the offense to perform at its peak as well. Watching this group of kids put on a show from week to week says a lot about their program. The kids that I have laid eyes on in this game and will be presenting here are an amazing, talented, and athletic group that are bound to do something special in the next few weeks for the 2021 Alabama high school athletic association state playoffs. I believe this group of kids will lead this Spartan team a very long way on the road to Super 7. Here are my Mountain Brook high school Spartans, under the radar defensive players, versus the Homewood High School Patriots.
Trenton Wright, No. 4, LB
All night watching Trenton Wright is something special. This kid fills the gap so aggressively at the linebacker position. Trenton also knows spot on when there’s a pass before trying to take on the run. The way he steps up and sees the quarterback drop, which makes him drop back into coverage and causes a play to be blown up by his presence, is great. This kid is a senior for the Spartans who is a multi-sport kid, but watching him play linebacker versus the Homewood High School Patriots shows me his level of talent that could be played in any sport.
Gray Doster, No. 90, DL
Doster is a very strong defensive lineman for the Mountain Brook Spartans. This kid was all over the field versus the Homewood Patriots. He has great flexibility and leverage under the offense lineman, which he uses throughout the whole game to drive every lineman on his way back to be able to make a play for the Spartans. Doster is a very physical defensive lineman that has the ability to play anywhere on the line, from nose guard all the way to the defensive end position. This kid is another kid on the Spartan team that is under the radar and showed up very well versus the Patriots. I can’t wait to see more of this kid in the future.
Mac McCowan, No. 7, DB
McCowan is a very aggressive defensive back for the Mountain Brook Spartans, where he displays his talents as a true DB. This kid has every ability to be something big for the Spartans. He has shown his strength by jabbing and holding up a receiver on the line of scrimmage, causing them to not be able to get open for a pass. He also gets off blocks very well to crash into a play to make a tackle. This kid is also a dark force for the Spartan defense with his excellent pursuit angle and his technique to make him valuable to the team.
