The top 2 spots in 6A appear to be a battle to the end with Oak Grove and Ocean Springs in the south part of the state and Starkville and Madison Central in the north half. Here’s how we see them stacked up going into week 7:
1. Greenville Christian (7-1)
The Saints were held to their lowest scoring total of the season at Jackson Academy last week but they still won in convincing fashion 30-9. At the time of publishing this they were on the hunt for a game Friday night due to a cancellation with Rossville Christian Academy.
This week: No game
2. Ocean Springs (5-0)
Another week = Another W for the Greyhounds. Bray Hubbard Bray Hubbard 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Ocean Springs | 2023 State MS and David Humphries combined for 5 more rushing TD’s as D’Iberville was no match for the talented offense last week.
This week: vs. Biloxi (Thurs.)
3. Starkville (6-0)
The Jackets continued their winning ways at home last week with a victory over Clinton. The youthful bunch from Starkville has been one of the biggest surprises in 2021.

4. Oak Grove (4-1)
Petal was no match for the Warriors last week as Oak Grove exploded offensively winning 48-14. Don’t worry – Oak Grove still is firmly in the mix to win another 6A title.
This week: @ Meridian
5. West Point (3-2)
New Hope had been one of the surprise teams in 5A so far but then they ran into the Green Wave. A 31-0 shutout victory for West Point has them sitting in a familiar seat atop 1-5A.
This week: @ Cleveland Central
6. Madison Central (4-1)
A week after dropping a nail-biter on the road at Starkville, the Jags took care of business 35-0 against Grenada last Friday.
This week: @ Clinton
7. South Panola (4-1)
D’Mariun Perteet ran wild on Olive Branch for 3 TD’s last week as the Tigers continued their winning ways.
This week: vs. Southaven
8. West Jones (4-1)
Elite. Defense. The Mustangs have only given up 2 points since August 27th. One of the top defensive units in the state just keeps getting better and better. 3 consecutive shutouts.
This week: vs. South Jones
9. Louisville (5-1)
The Wildcats have the potential to run the table in 4A and as always be a threat to win a state title. Coach Tyrone Shorter has things under control in Winston County.
This week: vs. Choctaw Central
10. Oxford (4-2)
The Chargers just continue to hang around and improve. The problem now is they have the most difficult close to the season in the state.
