That physicality led them to a 40-30 win over Arcanum on Saturday night and a ticket to the second round of OHSAA playoffs. The ground and pound attack of the Indians was one that Arcanum never was really able to stop. Bryce Schondelmyer Bryce Schondelmyer 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Springfield | 2023 State OH led the Trojan offensive attack, but on this night they couldn’t quite do enough. Later on in this article I give my scouting report on Bryce. First let’s take a look at some of the other standouts.
Fort Recovery
2022 RB Riley Hiser 5’7 150- Riley had a big night for the Indians as he rushed for 4 TD’s. Though smaller in stature, Hiser displayed good balance, vision, and powerful leg drive. He many times extended runs beyond first contact. Obviously he had a big night, but one of the impressive things to me was what he didn’t do, and that’s make negative plays. Even when the blocking was what you would have liked Riley would find a way to get back to the line of scrimmage, if not gain a few yards.
2022 TE Logan Homan 6’3 200- Offensively Homan was used in many ways during this game. He blocked, he caught passes, and he ran the ball on end arounds. His hands and athleticism lend well to him playing TE at the college level. He plays defensive end as well. While the
field conditions were rough, you could see what is a good get off and athleticism used to beat the opposing offensive linemen. He plays with good awareness and and has the motor to run down plays.
2024’s Reece Guggenbiller and Troy Homan were two way starters for the Indians at receiver on offense and in the defensive secondary. Homan also returned punts and kicks. With the weather and field conditions being what they were it wasn’t a night that really favored the skill positions, but these two showed good length and athleticism. Both are 5’11 and around 160 pounds.
Arcanum
2023 Garrett Garno WR 6’2 150- Garno was a favorite target of QB Bryce Schondelmyer Bryce Schondelmyer 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Springfield | 2023 State OH on the evening. Garno did a great job of making catches and getting open. He did a good job of playing through contact and catching the ball when it came his way. He was able to get separation on a few deep routes, but the timing was just a little off.
I saw Bryce Schondelmyer Bryce Schondelmyer 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Springfield | 2023 State OH at a couple of camps last summer and was really impressed. So I wanted to make sure I found time this season to make my way to Arcanum to check him out in game action, and he didn’t disappoint. Let me say that the field conditions and rain where not conducive to a high powered passing attack. That being said Schondelmyer put out a gritty performance where he made many big time throws, as well as some that were just a little off that may been have been affected by the weather. No excuses were made, and

Quarterback Arcanum High School
Class of 2023
6’2 195
– Sturdily built with room to continue to fill out and get stronger
– Great feel of the pocket and ability to make quick and concise movements that make guys miss and eludes the rush.
– Throws a very catchable ball. ie great spin rarely wobbles
– Ball placement is superb. He puts the ball on guys where they can make plays in the short game and puts it where only his guys can get it when he takes his deep shots. This is advanced for a HS QBs. Most want to force it into coverage or heave 50/50 balls. On a night with on and off rain and really poor field conditions, Bryce took excellent care of the ball.
– He’s sneaky fast. He can get yards scrambling when the opportunity presents.
– A tough as nails competitor. In the huddle he’s a leader that’s always on an even keel that’s always focused encouraging and getting the most of out of his teammates.
Given all of this physical abilities and arm talent a long with his intangibles I believe Bryce is a Power 5 talent. This offseason and next summers camp season will be crucial as to where his recruitment heads. Right now he’s getting interests from D1 Mid Majors.
