It’s the most beautiful time of the year, yes, the playoffs! The second round of the playoffs is underway for some divisions as others will soon play. Here are your week two top performers.
Jayden Gibson Jayden Gibson 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Toledo Whitmer | 2022 OH – LB – Whitmer – 2022
- Jayden had a game to remember for the Panthers in the second round of the playoffs vs. Centerville. Gibson had three interceptions, one pick-six, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, plus he scored a rushing TD. That is what you call having a CAREER game. Expect the stands to be full of college coaches as they take on Marysville next week.
Sam Weihrauch – LB – Findlay – 2022
- Sam has over 140 tackles on the season for the Trojans, and that is good enough for best in school history. Sam has been consistent all season long on both sides of the ball when needed. Weihrauch is a tackling machine and will have his most significant task to date vs. Springfield in round 3 of the playoffs. Congratulations on the record, Sam!
Braden Awls – DB – Central Catholic – 2023
- The Jr had two picks for six for the Irish defense in round two of the playoffs. Awls is a fantastic two-way athlete as he competes on the basketball courts at a high level but is starting to turn heads in the football world. Braden is one of the top 2023 safeties in northwest Ohio, and it has been on display all season long.
Gabe Powers Gabe Powers 6'4" | 225 lbs | LB Marysville | 2022 State OH – LB – Marysville – 2022
- Powers showed why he is one of the top LBs in the United States of America. Gabe showed off his talent on the offensive side of the ball as a true power back as he picked up yards with ease. Powers was in typical form as he racked up many tackles and looked the part of an Ohio State linebacker in round 2.
Jadyn Garnes – RB – New Albany – 2022
- Garnes exploded vs. Hillard Darby as he scored four touchdowns in a challenging playoff game. He showed his ability to break tackles and still run for forty yards plus after first contact. Next week, expect a big game as the two 12-0 teams battle for regional dominance; they will play Upper Arlington in round 3.
