Even though the season ended, there were many players who ended the season on a high note with a strong showing in the game. Here are the game balls handed out to Vista Ridge from Friday’s game.
Keshawn Dooley, 2023, 5’8, 160, WR
Here is a complete receiver who can do it all in the Vista Ridge offense. With his speed, he can go down the field on the fade or go route and beat the cornerback one-on-one at the line of scrimmage. He will work over the middle of the field in traffic and is not afraid to take contact after the completion. His hands are solid, and he does a good job grabbing the ball and going to get it against the coverage. He can create enough separation and catch in traffic. Dooley caught 10 passes and scored two touchdowns in the game, and he should be a nice wide receiver prospect for schools to consider for his class.
Brayden Dorman Brayden Dorman 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Vista Ridge | 2023 State CO , 2023, 6’5, 200, QB
One of the top-ranked prospects for the Class of 2023, Dorman looks the part. He has great size for the position and can make all the throws. He shows great timing with his receivers, throwing the ball in their breaks and fitting the ball in some tight windows on streaking routes up the field. If a pocket breaks down, he does a good job escaping and will pick up some yards scrambling while protecting himself from a big hit. Dorman does take some risks, and he had to in the second half with the lead growing against him, but he has done a good job taking care of the football this season. Thanks to a big junior season and a handful of FBS offers, Dorman will be one of the top prospects to watch next season in Colorado.
Justis La’ulu, 2022, 6’3, 295, OL/DL
La’ulu played in all three phases of the game and looks the part. He has got a solid frame and has the capability to bully some smaller players around on the line of scrimmage. He shows good technique in pass protection from his guard spot and can get off the ball and lead the way in the run game as well. He doubles up on the defensive line, doing a good job taking up blockers up the middle for his teammates. His size and strength allow him to make some tackles and get in the scrum up the middle as well. And La’ulu was a personal protector for the punter in special teams, a position that requires a tough athlete to take on the duty. Because of his size and strength, he will be a player who should draw some attention from schools late in this recruiting period and could be a nice find late.
