South Bend Offensive Standouts: Regionals
We’re highlighting some of the best offensive performances from the South Bend area from this past week’s matchups.
Joseph Heuer – Lowell – RB – 5’8″ 180 lbs
Heuer was Lowell’s workhorse on Friday and he was decent early in the game and then got better late in the game. He’s not the most explosive back but is able to make the most out of every carry he had. He was able to run over a few defenders and then made a few other defenders miss. He finished the night with over 100-yards and 2 TDs on the night.
Gabriel Kerr – Mishawaka Marian – WR/TE – 6’1″ 200 lbs
Kerr lines up everywhere for Marian and good things happen when he gets the ball thrown his way. He was feasting over the middle of the field all night. Hanover didn’t have many answers for him when he got going. He was able to catch a TD right over the middle of the endzone as you could see the morale leaving the defense. He finished the night with over 100-yards and a TD on the night.
Kaleb Lusanga – Mishawaka Marian – RB – 5’10″ 170 lbs
If it wasn’t Kerr killing the defense it was Lusanga. They were a great duo on the night and both feasted. When Kerr wasn’t catching a ball over the middle it was Lusanga coming downhill to finish off a defender or 2. He ran through defenders like it was personal. He added a few receptions and moved the chains a few times as well. He rushed for over 100-yards and had a TD on the night as they got the win and will move on.
Matt Koontz Matt Koontz 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Hanover Central | 2024 State IN – Hanover Central – QB – 6’1″ 180 lbs
Koontz started slow and made a bad interception but bounced right back. He was able to deliver a strike on his next throw after his INT to get rolling. He started feeling himself and was dealing and putting the ball where only his WR could get it. He also added some damage on the ground and extended a few drives. He finished the night with over 200-yards on the night as they fell short.
