Aledo, has the pedigree of being a ten time State Champion and came into this game undefeated and ranked number one in Class 5A DII. The Bears of South Oak Cliff led by Coach Todd, who has built one of the most successful programs in the state are on the cusp of doing something special. The Bears came out with the victory 33-28 to advance to the Reginal Finals and the fourth round of the playoffs. I have had the chance to see the South Oak Cliff Bears the last two weeks during the playoffs. Here are some of the talented Bears offensive players who have caught my eye:
Kevin Henry Jennings | Quarterback | Class of 2022 | Missouri State Commit
Jennings is a difference maker. Kevin has a next level arm talent, a quick release, can make all the throws on the route tree, has touch on his deep ball and is razor sharp on his intermediate throws. Jennings moves well in the pocket, has a great feel for pressure and is elusive when he needs to use his legs. I have had the opportunity to watch Kevin the last two years during the season, at 7v7 tournaments, at several camps and he has displayed that he continues to elevate his game. Look for Jennings to continue to be at the forefront of the Bears success during their playoff run. Don’t be surprised if colleges continue to head to South Dallas to inquire about Jennings.
Brione Ramsey-Brooks Brione Ramsey-Brooks 6'5" | 380 lbs | OL South Oak Cliff | 2023 State TX | Offensive Line | Class of 2023
Brooks has a mean streak that doesn’t have to be coached. Brione has imposing size at 6’5 350 lbs.. Brooks moves well, is strong at the point of attack, locks on defenders, finishes blocks and plays thru the whistle. He lets his opponents know that he is in control, is a feisty player but plays with controlled chaos. Brooks strength is impressive and he is a key member of an offensive line that has two dynamic play makers in the backfield. Power 5 Conference schools will be looking his way as he continues to improve his game.
Dennis Jones Dennis Jones 6'6" | 340 lbs | OL South Oak Cliff | 2022 State TX | Offensive Line | Class of 2022
Jones is powerful, uses great technique, has flexible hips, has the agility to make blocks at the second and third levels, has a quick kick-slide step, has great arm length and uses his hands well when he engages defenders. Dennis keep his base wide during run blocking, has motor that runs high, has a powerful punch and applies great leverage that doesn’t let him get beat often. At 6’6 350 lbs., Dennis has several Power 5 Conference schools taking a look at his next level game.
Keundrae Hollywood | Running back | Class of 2022 | Pitt State (KS) Commit
Hollywood is a primetime player. Keundrae is an explosive runner, makes defenders miss in the open field, and runs with power and speed. Hollywood has soft hands and runs pass routes well from his running back position, which makes him a weapon out of the Bear backfield. Against Frisco in the Area Round, Hollywood had two spectacular touchdown runs and rushed for over 100 yards. Hollywood put the Raccoons defense in the spin cycle several times, which left defenders reaching for air.
Qualon Farrar | Running Back | Class of 2022 | North Texas Commit
Farrar has a powerful build, runs with a low center of gravity, gets small in the hole in heavy traffic, has an elite burst with the ability to cut on a dime and finishes runs with authority. Qualon has next level speed, gets north quickly, breaks tackles with ease and has the versatility to be a weapon on pass plays. Farrar is elusive in the open field and that has been on full display in the post season. Against Frisco he had over 150 yards and two touchdowns.
Jamyri Cauley | Wide Receiver | Class of 2024
Cauley plays the game well beyond his years. He has the strength to beat press coverage, has the quickness and speed to blow by defenders, has strong hands and great length which makes his catch radius expand. Cauley excels at the 50/50 jump ball. Jamyri manhandles defenders at the point of attack which allows him to be an effective blocker in the Bears run game. At 6’3 210 lbs., Cauley possesses next level traits as a sophomore receiver and has picked up offers from Texas, Ole Miss, Michigan State and TCU.
Randy Reece Randy Reece 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR South Oak Cliff | 2023 State TX | Wide Receiver | Class of 2023
Reece has the speed to take the top off of a defense and breakup coverages. Randy runs crisp routes, gets in and out of his breaks quickly, reads coverages well, which allows him to find weaknesses in defenses. Reece has explosive jumping ability which has been on display on several acrobatic catches to extend drives during the playoffs. Randy makes big plays and should be on the opposing defenses scouting report each week. Only a junior, Reece’s recruiting profile is rising, as he picked up recent offers from TCU and Arizona.
Kyron Chambers Kyron Chambers 6'0" | 195 lbs | DB South Oak Cliff | 2022 State TX | Wide Receiver | Class of 2022
Chambers has elite speed and knows how to get open consistently. Kyron excels at the run after the catch yards, is a dangerous runner in the open field and has a no fear mentality when it comes to making catches over the middle. Chambers can line up in the slot , is a mismatch for safeties and linebackers and is dangerous in the screen game, as well as jet sweeps in the Bears offense. Kyron has caught the eye of college recruiters. Chambers picked up a TCU offer recently.
