That being said, take a look at the stat leaders from the championship games at MetLife.
Sr., QB Alfonso Lombardi Alfonso Lombardi 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Cedar Grove | 2022 NJ , Cedar Grove
Mr. Lombardi led Cedar Grove to a close win over Park Ridge 13-12. Lombardi was 11 for 22 187 yards and one touchdown. Also, carried the ball 8 times for 35 yards. Lombardi showed he can get it done through the air on the ground. He makes smart decisions and did not turn the ball over. Lombardi finished his senior season going 113 for 188 , 2,017 yards, 18 TDs and 8 INTs. On the ground, he finished with 72 carries for 361 yards and 6 TDs. Cedar Grove finished their season (12-1) and crowned the North Group 1 state championship.
Sr., QB Steve Angeli, Bergen Catholic
Mr. Angeli had an impressive performance over Don Bosco Prep to get the win 28-7. Angeli went 9 for 14, 101 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, he carried the ball 9 times for 29 yards. Angeli has been solid all year leading this top ranked Bergen Catholic who are the number ranked team in the state. Angeli finished his senior season going 204 for 321, 2,882 yards, 23 TDs and 5 INTs. On the ground, he had 57 carries for 228 yards and 3 TDs.
Sr., RB Ryan Butler Ryan Butler 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Bergen Catholic | 2022 State NJ , Bergen Catholic
Mr. Butler dominated in the win over Don Bosco. He rushed for 140 yards on 25 carries and two TDs. Butler has surpassed well over 1,000 yards this season. He is a downhill runner and has the vision to break away at any time. Butler has been a huge part of their success who is a 3-star prospect generating a lot of interest from FBS schools. Butler finished the season with 1,229 yards and 23 TDs. Don Bosco has won the Non- Public A state title.
Sr., DB Trevor Hillier Trevor Hillier 6'2" | LB West Morris | 2022 NJ , West Morris
Mr. Hillier dominated on the defensive side to come away with the win over Cranford 53-14. Hillier had 13 tackles, 3 TFL, 3 sacks and 1 FF. Hillier was all over the field. He did a great job easily recognizing plays. He has great size and athleticism to play at the next level. Hillier is also the starting quarterback which is good for the next level that shows he versatile. West Morris has won the North Group 3 state final.
