Popeye Williams Popeye Williams 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Westfield | 2022 State IN – Westfield – DE – 6’2” 225 lbs
Popeye was in the backfield all night. He made the office of line anxious and they began false starting early in the game. That continued throughout the game because of how dominant Williams was off the edge. Carroll struggled to set the edge and if Becker didn’t get the ball out quickly, Williams was sure to say hi. He’s clearly a future college football player and was the best player on the field. He dominated the line of scrimmage and forced Becker into some unusual mistakes. He finished the night with 2 sacks, a few TFL, and countless pressures.
Tyler Dikos – Westfield – MLB – 6’1” 190 lbs
Late in the game when things started to get out of hand, Becker forced a pass he shouldn’t have and Dikos made the interception. He raced back and returned the ball down to the Carroll 20-yard line. They scored a TD on the very next play and that score put the game on ice. He finished the night with 11 tackles and had a PBU.
Trevon Hatchett – Westfield – CB – 5’10” 190 lbs
Hatchett has to have incredible conditioning to be able to play every down on both sides of the ball. I don’t think he ever came off the field all night. He pitched a shutout on the defensive side of the ball. He didn’t allow a single reception on his defender all night. He broke up the only pass Becker attempted his way. As great as he was on offense, you could make an argument that he was even better on defense. He is just an incredible football player and he’s a huge reason why they got the win.
Braden Steely – Carroll – CB
Steely was fine on the backend on Friday. He gave up a few completions and forced a few incompletions. He was able to aggravate his WR just enough. However, his biggest play came on Special Teams. Westfield fumbled the snap and Steely came right through. The punter got the ball off but Steely got his hand on it and forced a shank.
