As we approach only a couple weeks away from the calendar year turning from 2021 to 2022, a new senior class is among us, already training and working hard on their crafts to prepare themselves for the grueling upcoming offseason. Each position on the football field plays a role and leaves an impact in one way or another, but it is hard to overlook the utmost importance that the quarterback position brings game in and game out. Some argue that a quarterback is the single handily most impactful position in all of sports, and it is hard to disagree with that testament. With that being said, many schools across the front range will be led by steady senior quarterbacks heading into the 2022 season, but only a few will be fortunate enough to hunker down the best of the best. Kick back and relax Colorado high school football fans, it is time to introduce the top senior quarterbacks as we look forward to the 2022 season.

<strong>2021 Stats: 206/340, 2,765 Yards, 30 TD’s, 8 INT’s </strong>
Ranked as the #1 QB in the recently updated 2023 rankings, there is no questioning that Dorman’s big time ability comes with a sense of swagger that compliments his talent perfectly. Many view Dorman as one of the best the state of Colorado has to offer among pure pocket passers, and his extreme superb sense in that same very pocket proposes a dangerous threat to all kinds of opposing defenses. His 30 touchdown tosses ranked himself within the top five of all eligible quarterbacks within the state.

At first glance, Capra’s aerial numbers leave you flabbergasted. When you realize that he is also capable of being a dual-threat nightmare for defenses galore, it makes him that much more impressive. Although Capra only stands at 6’1", he plays well above his size while orchestrating perfect control of the Denver South offense. The third-year signal caller will have all eyes on him as next season approaches closer and closer.

<strong> Rushing: 106 CAR, 558 Yards, 5.3 AVG, 8 TD’s </strong>
Another talented athlete with a strong arm and nimble legs, the Broomfield field general had a stellar campaign for the Eagles despite his squad finishing with a losing record. One of the many lone spots, Lacrue quickly established himself as a bonafide playmaker, and he quickly caught the eye of many around the state. The Eagles expect to return a good amount of bodies on both sides of the ball, so don’t be surprised if Broomfield puts a together a deep run with Lacrue under center.

Entering 2022, QB [player_tooltip player_id="43802" first="Christian" last="Hammond"] of Cherry Creek already a numerous amount accolades under his belt, but none more important than winning a state championship three years in a row. In order for the Bruins to try for a fourth straight title, they will need their best players to rise to the occasion, and none more important than their offensive leader. Hammond is calm and collected when going to battle, and despite his talented playing abilities being a large part of his game, his biggest strength may be in fact his leadership and capability to bring one another together to accomplish a goal.

<strong>2023 Rankings: #3 QB, #27 Overall</strong>
<strong>2021 Stats: 212/369, 3,116 Yards, 27 TD’s, 11 INT’s </strong>
Last and certainly not least among the senior quarterbacks is Fossil Ridge standout [player_tooltip player_id="150189" first="Tyler" last="Kubat"], whose 3,116 passing yards led all passers among junior QB’s. Standing at six foot five inches, Kubat displays more than ideal prototypical size for a next level type field general, and there is no question that his stats from the 2021 campaign back that statement. Currently ranked as the third best quarterback in the state, the Sabercats deserve to have all of the excitement in the world with Kubat’s right arm dissecting defenses.
