With this article we will take a look at three (3) area student-athletes that have refused to fail and decided to be winners and they have achieved so much during their 2021 senior season. Three players from three different schools that have paved the way and opened doors for the next generation of Lions, Trojans and Bengals to follow in the classroom and on the football field.

Freeman had a good season for the Lions, helping to lead them to the playoffs and making big plays a long way that help to guide a young lions team and set the tone for years to come. Freeman, 6”2’ CB/WR stated that he had a wonderful season, filled with lots of up’s and down’s but wouldn’t trade his senior experience with his teammates for nothing in the world. The senior CB/WR intercepted 7 passes, deflecting 6, forced 5 fumbled and recovered another 4 fumbles and on offense Freeman add 5 touchdowns on 5 receptions just over 200 yards. When ask how was it to play for a program with such a rich and storied tradition Freeman add that it was awesome and it’s an unexplainable feeling especially when all the alumni come to see you play.
Freeman equally skilled on either side of the ball did that he would prefer to play DB in college. And that would be an easy transition for the gifted playmaker who has the attributes to set him apart. Very good feet, hips along with great football agility, speed, size, length and overall student of the game Trajan could be a day one contributor at a school on Saturdays in the fall. Additionally, Freeman is also a standout student, he carries 3.0 GPA, actively involved with school clubs/organizations and a leader on campus.
Edward Williams, Sr. #20
Tara High School
FS / WR
6’3”, 200 lbs.

Tara’s senior Edward Williams had a great season for the Trojans. Williams stated that the season was very challenging as my team faced a lot of adversity. A lot of my teammates were able to learn from this season and hopefully they’re able to apply what they learned to next season. The ball hawking Williams intercepted 4 balls, recovered a fumble turning it into a TD and also forced 2 fumbles as well.
The standout safety has exceptional range because of his size, length, speed and ability to make plays on the ball. Also Williams is also very smart and recognizes formation quickly when making defensive adjustments. Not only is Williams a good football player her is an excellent student in the classroom. Williams was awarded Student of the Year, made the Principal’s List, maintained a 4.16 GPA or better with no grade lower than an A and was also Scholar Athlete of the Week for November 14-20, 2021.
Denichlass Jeter, Sr. #2
Belaire High School
RB / ATH
5’7”, 185 lbs.

Belaire High Schools Football Team may have been a Cinderella story for the 2021 season to some but for the players and coaches it was no Cinderella story, it was what they expected. And leading the way for the Bengals was the do it all Denichlass Jeter. Jeter rushed 957 yards on 139 carries, 90 rec yards and 12 touchdowns. On defense the young playmaker intercepted 8 passes (led state in int’s), forced 2 fumbles and added another 2 touchdowns. And in the kicking game Jeter also returned a punt for a touchdown and also kickoff for a touchdown as well. Jeter also hauled in a few postseason awards too. He was selected 1st team all-district for DB and ATH and awarded Defensive MVP. The versatile Jeter who took snaps at RB, QB, S, KR and PR this was the true definition on a do it all player. This versatility is unlike anything the Baton Rouge football scene has seen in a long time and it was fun to watch. He is explosive, quick, hard to tackle, smart and always has the chance to score when he has the ball in his hands. He reminds me of Tim Brown, former Glen Oaks High School Panther. While being an amazing football players Jeter is also an excellent student. He carries a cumulative 4.1 GPA and was also selected Student of the Year for his school too.
