Plenty of underclassmen with Division I potential, off the radar seniors, and a hidden gem from just over the Minnesota border in Wisconsin. Who are they? Find out which five defensive line prospects made my list for the top dogs from last Sunday at the Tonka Dome!
Cade Myszewski | Defensive Line | River Falls (WI) | 2023
Myszewski showed off an excellent blast of speed in the early drills last Sunday in Minnetonka. He showed some great flip in his hip turns as he showed a ton of elusiveness in individual drills. Cade shows off on his junior tape a variety of skillsets that could project either at fullback or defensive end at the next level. He is a great pass-catcher that shows that solid burst we saw in the Tonka Dome when he has the open field to himself. He also makes solid pad-level that can drive blocks into the second level with his excellent position. Coming off the edge at DE, Myszewski shows off some quick sheds to get into the backfield and cause havoc with ease. He moves his feet really well when moving laterally as well and is super physical on all fronts with his contact level. Cade certainly has the tools in my eyes to play scholarship football at the next level.
Zane Schneider Zane Schneider 6'5" | 210 lbs | DL Burnsville | 2022 MN | Defensive Line | Burnsville | 2022
I absolutely loved watching Zane Schneider Zane Schneider 6'5" | 210 lbs | DL Burnsville | 2022 MN ’s footwork in drills when watching defensive linemen. He just had a substantial athleticism when I watched him in individual drills. Not only did he show great juice in the drills he excelled as a motivator for his teammates, as he was just as fired up outside of drills with those teammates as he was inside. If someone can find me some recent tape on this young man, let me know as I am intrigued by his motor!
Trent Page Trent Page 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Minnehaha Academy | 2024 State MN | Defensive Line | Minnehaha Academy | 2024
I caught Trent Page Trent Page 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Minnehaha Academy | 2024 State MN in the individual drills and man, there is a lot of upside to his game and so much time left on his clock to grow. There is a lot to love about his long arms that showed off great extension against some longer defensive ends he went up against. Not only an outstanding athlete, but has grade A character too to go along with it. Certainly a high-energy prospect inside and outside the locker room I am sure of it. When I rolled Trent’s sophomore tape, I just loved how he worked his hands on all the offensive linemen he went up against. Not only how he worked his hands, but his hand placement drove tons of leverage and gave him the upper hand in most of the battles I got to watch. Trent is a prospect that is super versatile, and one that the Wolfpack moved around in different sets and he continued to have success wherever he matched up. Page also shows off a strong swim move to get his opponent’s hands off of him quickly. Trent Page Trent Page 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Minnehaha Academy | 2024 State MN certainly looks like a future Division I prospect in my eyes as we know it and I cannot wait to follow his journey over the coming years.
Martin Owusu Martin Owusu 6'4" | 270 lbs | DL Prior Lake | 2023 State MN | Defensive Line | Prior Lake | 2023
Martin Owusu Martin Owusu 6'4" | 270 lbs | DL Prior Lake | 2023 State MN was another Grade A character prospect at the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase. He showed a terrific bend in his stance which set him up for a lot of success in 1on1 drills. Not only can Owusu bend at a high level, he also has excellent speed out of his stance and those long arms allow him to get to the ball carrier while he’s making his transition off his sheds. His tape shows so much bounce with excellent movement with his footwork. I also love Martin’s instincts as he can make quick adjustments on the fly to give him a better read to snatch up the ball carrier easier. He also shows excellent technique and his contact level is right on point as far as the eyes can see. He also can cover a lot of space for his size and his sheds off blocks are just so smooth. I love to see the Division I attention Owusu has finally earned since after the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase, picking up one FCS and one FBS offer in the last weeks. Whoever lands this young man is not only getting one heck of a defensive end from a talent and put-together frame standpoint, but a team leader that is a great motivator to his future teammates.
Wyatt Gilmore Wyatt Gilmore 6'4" | 250 lbs | DL Rogers | 2024 State MN | Defensive Line | Rogers | 2024
Watching Wyatt Gilmore Wyatt Gilmore 6'4" | 250 lbs | DL Rogers | 2024 State MN run in drills last Sunday was like watching a deer running thru the woods, light-footed and extremely elusiveness on the Minnetonka turf. When I watched Gilmore’s sophomore tape, I could tell really early, if you do not decide to block this young man he will indeed make you pay. Wyatt’s ability to shed off blocks is excellent for his age and creating nearly 20 tackles for a loss in 5A as a sophomore is no small feat. He also is very rangy and with running with some of the top speed at the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase, he is a defensive line prospect that you will see have the stamina to be the last man to beat deep in the play, which is not something you see much from the guys upfront. His quick punch off the line has a lot of juice and it allows him to move the defender off far enough for him to explode thru into the backfield. He can be describes a intruder, that you need to watch to see where he is on the football field as he can finish tackles at any level of the field. Certainly a Division I talent in the making as far as my eyes can see this early coming out of Rogers.
