I made sure to find both the offensive and defensive linemen because I am also a firm believer in the trenches. There were many good linemen in attendance and all of them put on a good show throughout the day. Here are a few that caught my eye:
OL:
’23 Aaron Chanthanavong Aaron Chanthanavong 6'2" | 255 lbs | OL Spring Lake Park | 2023 State MN (Spring Lake Park)- I liked this kid’s frame, he seemed well put together with a load of strength behind him. He had great footwork in all the drills they showed and that carried over into the one-on-one segment of camp. He was quick and smart enough to know which spot he had to get to in order to win his matchup in individuals. He was also a quick learner, if he didn’t win his matchup on the first turn, he wasn’t losing the second one. Also had a very calm demeanor throughout the whole camp and tested very well.
’23 Drew Krengel (Totino Grace)- This kid also had a good frame and had good height along with him. He played really low for how tall he was and had a great first step off the snap. He keeps a good pad level in both pass and run blocking and stays in front of his man and has good hand technique as well. While his test results won’t jump off the page at you, he made up for that in individual drills. He had a good pass-block technique in individuals and had a good session to stand out.
’23 Sawyer Tordsen (Fairmont)- Tordsen had a good day both testing and in individuals. He also brought a big frame and quickness with the feet. For his size, he put up a decent 40, but tested really well in the lateral movements, which translated well in pass-blocking drills. He did a good job getting into position to block his guy, even if he couldn’t get hands on him, he knew to get in the way because no one was going to run through him.
DL:
’22 Zane Schneider Zane Schneider 6'5" | 210 lbs | DL Burnsville | 2022 MN (Burnsville)- Schneider just had an ’it’ factor when it came to drills. He has good size, height and wingspan, but what stood out to me was his awareness in his coordination, he had very quick feet and a lot of hidden muscle. His agility showed with his times in testing as well as in drills. I also enjoyed watching him in individuals, his quick step off the ball to get into his pass rush. With no pads on, he didn’t to be shy of contact. The thing I liked in his game before the end of the day was his energy, his willingness to step in and get as many reps as possible and showing his athleticism in those reps, as well as his hype in getting excited when other guys did well in those same drills.
’24 Cody Swanson (Byron)- Swanson performed pretty well the whole day, his testing numbers weren’t the greatest but tell me he has a promising future since he’s a sophomore. He has good feet which showed in his agility testing times. He’s not the biggest D-lineman around, but he makes up for it in quickness and athleticism. The thing that caught my eye with him was the way he keeps his leverage by controlling his center of gravity to be as quick as possible. In individuals he showed his strength that came along with his quickness.
’24 Dalton Muehlberg Dalton Muehlberg 6'1" | 370 lbs | DL Cambridge Isanti | 2024 MN (Cambridge-Isanti)- Muehlberg was the athlete I was hoping would be at the showcase. He’s a big kid, which may be misconstrued on paper, but then you see this kid play and none of that matters anymore. He’s a fairly quick kid for his size, but really displays his size and muscle extremely well, especially in competitive situations. I really enjoyed his individual session, he loved to drive his guy back into the backfield and control his spot on the Line of Scrimmage. He stepped right up against any of the O-linemen and drove each of them off the ball and shed them well.
