What a weekend in Ohio, as the state championship games have put an exclamation point on the season for seven teams. So much talent was on display all season long, and now we watch the class of 2022 get ready for signing day and take a glimpse of what’s next!
The 2023 class in NWO has some high-profile names like star lineman from Findlay Luke Montgomery Luke Montgomery 6'4" | 295 lbs | OL Findlay | 2023 State OH and QB Kaden Holmes Kaden Holmes 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Fremont Ross | 2023 State OH of Fremont Ross. Before I dive off the deep end and talk about all the guys in the class of 2023, let’s start with a few prospects from all grade levels.
There is no secret, I also run a sports training program called 4th and Goal Athletics in NWO and get a chance to see athletes first hand in the off-season. These three athletes mentioned have an opportunity to be exceptional and use the offseason to boost their stock.
Brian King – 2023 – DE/Edge – St. Francis de Sales
King is an exciting prospect for the SFS Knights as he has good enough size to play DE but could develop into a linebacker. Brian played more to the short side of the field and had six sacks to show for it. One thing you might see in 2022 out of King is the possibility of playing WR/TE in the flamboyant offense that head coach Bruce Gradkowski runs. Brian is a natural route runner and is looking to gain twenty pounds of muscle this offseason while working on his speed. King earned honorable mention all-district at DE, expect an increase of accolades in 2022 as he focuses on changing his body this off-season.
Brandon Waddell – 2026 – ATH – Perrysburg Jr High
Waddell has to be one of the best athletes in the class of 2026 in the state of Ohio. That is a massive claim for a kid who is still in Jr high, but this kid has the tools to make a varsity impact as a freshman. Brandon has some of the fastest feet out of anyone I know and the agility of a cat. Keep your eye on this prospect, as he will be a household name in the region when it’s all said and done.
Desmond Flowers – 2025 – WR – Central Catholic
Desmond is a brilliant kid, no, like really smart. Things like GPA and grades are not talked about enough in the recruiting process, but I won’t let that happen. Flowers has one of the highest grade point averages in his class at Central, and his cerebral prowess shows on the field. Fast feet and good hands are standard for Desmond, and his focus this offseason is on gaining weight and cracking the starting line up for the loaded fighting Irish. Flowers is an IVY prospect already, as his lowest grade in all honor classes is 97%. This prospect won’t be a liability but only an asset to any program.
