Harper has been the best player at Northwood the past two seasons and he was a major part in leading the Timberwolves to their first CIF championship in school history. The junior rushed for 214 yards on 34 carries with two touchdowns in Northwood’s 37-14 win over Long Beach Jordan.

Elijaih Lux, Patrick Henry, 2022
Lux was unstoppable for Patrick Henry in its first ever CIF championship win over University City. The senior rushed for 350 yards on 28 carries for four touchdowns. Lux ran for over 2,000 yards and over 20 touchdowns this season in a historic year for the program. Often times head coaches that are prolific ex quarterbacks are reluctant to run the ball frequently. Kudos to coach J.T. O’Sullivan for recognizing the strengths of his teams and getting the best out of Lux and the offensive line.
Lux has been through it all, but now he’s helped lead his team to the Division IV CIF Championship game next week for the first time in 2 decades!! We caught up with @ElijaihLux postgame ⬇️🎉 #KUSIPPR @HenryFootballSD pic.twitter.com/gz64ZBECc8

Markus Macon, Palo Verde Valley, 2023
Palo Verde Valley’s running game has carried the team all season and did so once again en route to a CIF championship. They have two rushers over 1,300 yards on the season and their third rusher has over 900 yards. Macon shined in Palo Verde Valley’s win over Mission Bay. The junior rushed for 209 yards on just 14 carries with two touchdowns.

Still work to be done but we have been led by our stellar running backs behind great offensive lineman.

Xzavier Bejarano c/o 2023 146 carries 1334 yds 12 tds

Devin Samples, Long Beach Poly, 2023
Samples was fantastic all postseason for Long Beach Poly in an overmatched Division 4 bracket. The junior had an impressive statline in the championship game against St. Francis with 220 yards on 38 carries with three touchdowns in a 38-7 win. He was one of the breakout stars for Poly this season that most media members were unaware of in the preseason.

Bryce Strong, Colony, 2022
Colony used the big play to beat St. Margaret’s in a shootout for the Division 9 championship. Strong had two of the biggest plays of the game with an interception in the endzone followed by an 89-yard touchdown run. He also had a 42-yard run in which he should have been tackled for a loss but broke a bunch of tackles and outran the St. Margaret’s defense.
TOUCHDOWN: Colony extends the lead on an incredible score. Strong runs left, turns around and runs across the field and 42 yards for the score. 2nd half has been all Colony.
