As a result, colleges from all across the country have flocked to the state in hopes of finding their future signal-caller. As we approach the Early Signing Period, there is still a wide range of Senior QBs that have flown way underneath the radar, especially in the Metro Atlanta area. Here are those QBs…
Mason Hicks | 6’1 | Creekview
This past year was the only year that Hicks started at the varsity level, which could be a reason why he has flown so far under the radar. Being a backup is not the only hardship that Hicks has dealt with in recent years, as he spent a portion of his high school career recovering from heart surgery. Despite the odds being against him, Hicks led his team to an 8-2 regular season topped off with a playoff birth. Along the way, Hicks finished with over 2000 total yards of offense and added 27 total TDs, 22 of them being through the air. On film, Hicks is a tough runner with some big-time speed, and has a knack for extending the play. Makes good decisions with the ball, which can be supported with a 22-4 TDINT ratio. He also has some good arm talent with a nice touch on the deep ball. Hicks was super productive at a high level of GAHS football. Even though he doesn’t claim any offers, he has done more than enough in his career to earn plenty.
Zach Harris Zach Harris 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Cambridge | 2022 GA | 6’1 | Cambridge
His future looks to be in baseball as he is committed to play at the D1 level for Georgia Southern. but his production on the gridiron can’t go unnoticed. Harris threw for 2700 yards and 26 TDs his senior season. More importantly, he helped Cambridge complete their most successful season in school history. Already, Harris will go down as one of the best players in history for that school. Harris looks very comfortable in the pocket and can make plays under pressure. He puts some nice touch on the ball. but can also put the ball into tight windows when needed. He also is very efficient as a runner. where he ran for 208 yards in 2021. Even though his future is in football, what Harris did at Cambridge this year can not go unnoticed.
Kyle Durham Kyle Durham 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Johns Creek | 2022 GA | 6’2 | Johns Creek
After finishing with over 3,000 yards of total offense and 35 total TDs while leading his team to the elite 8, Durham will certainly have a future in CFB. In fact, he has already received some offers and interests from D1 schools. On film, there is plenty to like about Durham. He is not a run-first QB, but he has some nice speed and can extend the play in the pocket, he also can throw on the run. Durham has a big-time arm and a beautiful deep ball, and his ability to stay calm in the pocket allows him to pick apart defenses in the short and intermediate passing game. He is productive, a winner. and looks nice on film. Expect Durham to play collegiately, but he has still flown under the radar.
Carson Lathem | 5’11 | River Ridge
The best way to describe Lathem is as a ’gamer’. He is not someone who will wow you with his size or blow you away at a combine, but he plays at a high level when it matters the most. Lathem has been a big part of some of the winningest teams in River Ridge football history. In two years as a starter, his team went 17-5 and he threw for 3650 yards and 33 TDs. On film, Lathem is a very dynamic QB who plays like a gunslinger. He does not like sitting in the pocket and picking apart defenses. Instead, he gets outside the pocket and makes big plays. The thing is, he does this without being dangerous. He keeps his eyes downfield and scrambles to throw, but he can absolutely hurt you as a runner. Lathem is a winner and is very dynamic. He has received several offers, but he could receive more as we approach NSD.
Austin Adcock | 6’2 | Dacula
Like Lathem, Adcock is also a gamer. He does not have a big arm and does not have elite speed, but he is tough and consistent. Because of that, he helped lead his team to a deep playoff run. On film, he stands out as a decision-maker. He sits back in the pocket and goes through his progressions, and makes plays even when faced with intense pressure. Being the guy who stepped up to lead his team on a deep playoff run is something that should not go unnoticed. Especially when that guy is a tough competitor. Adcock would be a welcomed late addition on any team searching for a QB.
