The class of 2023, soon to be Seniors, has some absolute ballers who all played well this season, however, they all have the potential to put up even bigger numbers during their Senior campaigns. Each quarterback listed will take on greater roles for their teams in 2022, and, with elite performance, they could all easily find themselves playing D1 football in the near future. Let’s take a closer look at 7 DMV quarterbacks who, in my estimation, will become elite prospects in 2022.
2023 6’0 185 QB – Marcus Hines Marcus Hines 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Loyola Blakefield | 2023 State MD – Loyola Blakefield
Marcus Hines Marcus Hines 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Loyola Blakefield | 2023 State MD led the Dons to 5-1 MIAA conference record and a victory in the Turkey Bowl. He ran a high powered offense that scored a lot of points, and the team was certainly more efficient with him under center. It really seemed like he was just getting comfortable at quarterback, given that he also played linebacker and receiver at times, and next season looks like the time Hines will put all of his focus on the QB position. In his final game this season, Hines battled back and forth against Calvert Hall quarterback Noah Brannock Noah Brannock 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Calvert Hall | 2023 State MD in a high scoring game, and he and the Dons came out victorious 41-35. Marcus Hines Marcus Hines 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Loyola Blakefield | 2023 State MD has a huge opportunity in front of him in 2022, and, if he proves that he can maintain his strong performance from last year, then he will certainly be an elite D1 quarterback prospect.
2023 6’0 190 QB – Noah Brannock Noah Brannock 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Calvert Hall | 2023 State MD – Calvert Hall
Noah Brannock Noah Brannock 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Calvert Hall | 2023 State MD earned 1st Team All MIAA honors and won the MIAA this season. He throws absolute lasers, and he, in my opinion, has the best throwing arm of any player on this list. He has tremendous deep ball accuracy, and he already possesses the correct tendency of throwing receivers open rather than at them. He also has great speed, and, if he scrambles, he is more than capable of throwing accurately on the run. Brannock already commands the Calvert Hall offense with confidence and passion, therefore Calvert Hall is my way too early pick to win the MIAA in 2022. Noah Brannock Noah Brannock 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Calvert Hall | 2023 State MD is a top 3 quarterback in the conference going into next season, and he absolutely has power five conference potential.
2023 6’2 195 QB – Jibril Scott – Dunbar
Jibril Scott led the Crimson Tide to a 7-3 overall record this season and a 5-1 conference record. What’s really impressive about Scott is his decision making. He gets rid of the football quickly, but he also rarely turns the football over. Jibril Scott throws with a left handed release that is tricky for defenses, particularly when he rolls outside the pocket. If Jibril Scott continues to increase his throwing velocity, like he has been, and play winning football, then he will absolutely become a collegiate level quarterback in the near future.
2023 6’4 250 QB – Ty’Sean Helm Ty’Sean Helm 6'3" | 230 lbs | QB Archbishop Caroll | 2023 State MD – Archbishop Carroll
Ty’Sean Helm Ty’Sean Helm 6'3" | 230 lbs | QB Archbishop Caroll | 2023 State MD earned 1st Team All WCAC honors this season, and he also nearly led the Lions to a perfect undefeated season. Helm is particularly efficient in the red-zone because he becomes a dual threat with power running ability. He was a nightmare for defenses all season because just when he seems down he scrambles easily for the first down. There’s nothing more deflating for a defense than allowing easy 3rd and 10s, and that’s exactly what Ty’Sean Helm Ty’Sean Helm 6'3" | 230 lbs | QB Archbishop Caroll | 2023 State MD caused defenses to do all season long. He also clearly worked on his deep ball passing because it improved dramatically this season. If he does the same with his short ball passing this offseason, then Helm absolutely has D1 potential. His elite numbers speak for themselves, and if he can continue to win like he did last year then he will get the attention of scouts everywhere.
2023 5’11 165 QB – Miller Geer – St. John’s
With Wyatt Hagan Wyatt Hagan 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB St. John's | 2022 State MD graduating in the Spring, 2022 could be the season of Miller Geer for the St. John’s football program. The lefty quarterback saw very little playing time this season, however, he knows the Cadets’ playbook well and he learned a ton studying under Hagan last year. The Cadets’ head coach, Pat Ward, also used quarterback Myles Slade last year for designed quarterback runs, so it will be interesting to see how exactly Geer is used. Miller Geer has a winning mentality and he also has elite offensive weapons like Cinque Blount Cinque Blount 5'11" | 215 lbs | RB St. John's | 2024 State MD , Asa Gregg, and Sean Williams Sean Williams 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR St. John's | 2023 State MD . Geer could certainly prove himself to be an elite prospect in 2022.

2023 6’3 200 QB – Myles Slade – St. John’s
There’s no question that the quarterback position is open at St. John’s. If it’s not going to be Miller Geer then head coach Pat Ward will definitely go with Myles Slade. Slade ran the wildcat offense in red-zone situations, and he proved that he also has phenomenal command of the offense. There are some questions on his experience throwing the ball in game situations, however, his ability to run the ball cannot be denied. The 2022 season could easily be the season of Myles Slade, and if he can improve his throwing ability this offseason then he will be the unanimous starting quarterback for the St. John’s Cadets. Coach Pat Ward certainly has a tough decision to make, but the choice is clear: Geer or Slade. Myles Slade will play a role in the offense no matter what, and if he does earn the starting job then he could take his game to the next level and become an elite D1 power five conference prospect.

2023 6’3 190 QB – Nicholas Behrens – Georgetown Prep
Nick Behrens and the Little Hoyas were undefeated in IAC play this season. Behrens thrives in play action pass situations, which is fitting with the IAC’s run heavy type play, and he also becomes more efficient on the run. With his size, he is a legitimate threat to pick up first downs on the run, therefore defenses break coverage to tackle him which then opens up the passing game. The level of football played in the IAC has really increased recently, and next year presents another opportunity for Behrens to prove himself against premier defenses inside and outside the conference. Scouts must keep an eye on Nicholas Behrens because 2022 could really be another breakout year for him.
