All of these quarterbacks are capable of playing football at the next level, and, if they keep up their performances at this rate, then they could potentially even play power five conference football. 2024 5’11 180 QB – Michael Van Buren Michael Van Buren 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB St. Frances | 2024 State MD – St. Frances Academy
Michael Van Buren Michael Van Buren 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB St. Frances | 2024 State MD is about to step into the spotlight as the starting quarterback for St. Frances in 2022, and he has one of the highest ceilings of any quarterback in the nation. He’s a spectacular dual threat QB with the potential to be the #1 performing quarterback in the state in 2022. His quick release and powerful arm both make him efficient in the pocket, but he’s even better when he scrambles and throws on the run. Van Buren really appreciates the value of the first down so he also isn’t afraid to use his athleticism to pick up yards when it’s required. Michael Van Buren Michael Van Buren 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB St. Frances | 2024 State MD is absolutely one of the most intelligent and exciting young quarterbacks in America right now, and he already has power five conference offers from schools like Ole Miss, Penn State, and Michigan. There’s no question that St. Frances Academy is my far too early pick to finish 2022 as the #1 team in Maryland, again, and that pick is largely based on the fact that Michael Van Buren Michael Van Buren 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB St. Frances | 2024 State MD will be the starting QB for the Panthers.
2024 6’5 180 QB – Frankie Weaver Frankie Weaver 6'5" | 190 lbs | QB Good Counsel | 2024 State MD – Good Counsel
Frankie Weaver Frankie Weaver 6'5" | 190 lbs | QB Good Counsel | 2024 State MD led Good Counsel to the WCAC Championship game this season, as a Sophomore, and he showed immense maturity and poise in the pocket all year. Weaver is a quintessential pocket passer, and, with his size, he’s able to see and make throws that a lot of other quarterbacks at this level are unable to make. He possesses elite level arm strength, and his accuracy is improving with experience. At 6’5 180, Weaver is more mobile and athletic than he appears on paper. He has the ability to run for 5-15 yards and make a defender miss for the first down. He’s by no means a dual threat quarterback, but Frankie Weaver Frankie Weaver 6'5" | 190 lbs | QB Good Counsel | 2024 State MD demonstrated that he belongs at the next level. He has the experience and the accolades to compete with any quarterback in the country, therefore scouts should give him the recognition he has earned in 2022.
2024 6’6 210 QB – Winston Watkins Winston Watkins 6'6" | 210 lbs | QB Mount St. Joseph | 2024 State MD – Mount Saint Joseph
Winston Watkins Winston Watkins 6'6" | 210 lbs | QB Mount St. Joseph | 2024 State MD threw for 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions this season, leaving him with a 3:1 TD:INT ratio. 3:1 is an extremely solid accomplishment for a Sophomore, and as Watkins’ experience increases as will his efficiency. His lefty release is tricky for defenses to deal with, especially when you combine it with his 6’6 frame, and he’s also very elusive for his size. Watkins led Mount Saint Joseph to wins over programs like McDonogh and Calvert Hall this year, and the Gaels were almost always competitive in every single game. The future of Gael football is exceptionally bright with Winston Watkins Winston Watkins 6'6" | 210 lbs | QB Mount St. Joseph | 2024 State MD at quarterback, and he should be viewed as a developing division one level quarterback with a high ceiling. Scouts must have Winston Watkins Winston Watkins 6'6" | 210 lbs | QB Mount St. Joseph | 2024 State MD on their radar because he has the potential to be a D1 star at a power five conference school.

2024 6’1 175 QB – Brenton Toles III – St. Mary’s Ryken
Brenton Toles III, also known as BT3, might just be the most elite dual threat quarterback in his class. His ability to throw accurate passes on the run is second to none, and he also gains more yards with his feet than just about any other quarterback in the area. Toles played the game of his career against Archbishop Carroll, leading the Knights to an incredible 24-12 victory over the nearly undefeated Lions. Brenton Toles III proved that he can compete with the best of the best in the WCAC, and for that reason St. Mary’s Ryken should be seen as a legitimate contender for the WCAC thrown in 2022. Toles was efficient even against some of the most dominant defenses in the conference, and he’s absolutely an elite division one talent who belongs in a power five conference school at the next level. Brenton Toles III is the real deal, and he will continue to be a breakout performing next year and the years ahead.
2024 5’11 175 QB – Aidan Conrath – Gonzaga
Aidan Conrath stepped up in a big way late in the season for the Gonzaga Purple Eagles. He took the reins at quarterback for Gonzaga with the playoffs looming just around the corner. Conrath dominated in his first start, and he led the Purple Eagles to a victory over Bishop McNamara. In his second start, the final game of the regular season, Conrath squared off against the #1 team in the area and long-time nemesis, St. John’s. He nearly handed them their first and only loss of the season. Conrath played a phenomenal game beyond his years where he took care of the football and made smart decisions, but Gonzaga still lost narrowly 20-17. Aidan Conrath gained a ton of valuable experience this season that will pay dividends moving forward. He’s already displayed immense skill and intelligent decision making at the position, therefore there’s no doubt that Gonzaga will be back better than ever in 2022 with Aidan Conrath under center. He’s a premier level D1 prospect.
2024 6’0 155 QB – Kelvin Hewitt Kelvin Hewitt 6'0" | 155 lbs | QB Ballou | 2024 State MD – Archbishop Carroll
Kelvin Hewitt Kelvin Hewitt 6'0" | 155 lbs | QB Ballou | 2024 State MD is a dynamic passer who has incredible deep ball accuracy. He achieved an 8:1 TD:INT ratio, which is sublime for a Sophomore, and he proved that he is ready to take on the full-time starting role in the coming years. Hewitt split time at quarterback this year with Junior Tysean Helm- who handled QB responsibilities early-on and executed the red-zone offense throughout the season. Their back and forth tandem offense dominated defenses all season long, and Kelvin Hewitt Kelvin Hewitt 6'0" | 155 lbs | QB Ballou | 2024 State MD and the Lions finished with an impressive 13-1 overall record. It would be a bit of a shock if Hewitt took over the full-time starting role immediately next season with Helm still in the picture. The team performed super well with them both under center this season, and their current system already yielded great success. However, Kelvin Hewitt Kelvin Hewitt 6'0" | 155 lbs | QB Ballou | 2024 State MD is such a gifted pocket passer and game manager that he might be awarded the full-time starting job as a Junior in 2022. He’s absolutely an elite level division one talent.
