Continue ReadingOn Saturday December 18th, 2021 I went to Dallas, TX to watch the UIL 6A Division II State Championship High School football game at The AT&T Stadium. This game was between The Austin Westlake Chaparrals (16-0) vs The Denton Guyer Wildcats (14-2). During the 1st half both teams were evenly matched. However, during the 3rd quarter Austin Westlake was finally warmed up. Austin Westlake conquered both the 3rd and 4th quarter. This led to the final scored being 21-40 with The Austin Westlake Chaparrals going undefeated and becoming the 6A Division II State Champions. Although, Denton Guyer lost they had a lot of standouts on both sides of the ball. I will be discussing all of Denton Guyer’s standouts on both offense and defense.
Guyer Offense
#11 Jackson Arnold Jackson Arnold 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Denton Guyer | 2023 State TX QB Jr 6’2 200 lbs
Jackson Arnold Jackson Arnold 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Denton Guyer | 2023 State TX is always taking full advantage of every situation. Jackson is a sharp, quick and decisive quarterback. Jackson has the ability to throw the ball with great accuracy from long range and dart quick passes. Jackson can also has the speed and quickness to run the ball if needed makes him a great quarterback. Jackson has also caught the attention of numerous amount of colleges and universities. Jackson has college and universities offers from; Penn State, University of Alabama, University of Oklahoma, Stanford University, Texas Tech University, University of Florida and many others. Jackson ended the game by rushing in the end zone himself with two touchdowns
#5 Jace Wilson Jace Wilson 6'4" | 185 lbs | WR Guyer | 2022 State TX WR, DE Sr 6’5 185 lbs
Jace Wilson Jace Wilson 6'4" | 185 lbs | WR Guyer | 2022 State TX is a quick and fast wide receiver. Jace was the main target for Jackson Arnold Jackson Arnold 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Denton Guyer | 2023 State TX . Jace used his speed and quickness to not only get open for passes, but avoid tackles and fought for every single yard he could. It is unfortunate that Jace lost his final high school football game, but Jace is a top college prospect. Jace has numerous amounts of offers from different colleges and universities. Although, Jace has already committed to The University of Texas San Antonio to continue his football career this upcoming fall. Jace ended out his final high school football game with one reception touchdown.
#22 Peyton Bowen Peyton Bowen 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Denton Guyer | 2023 State TX DB, RB Jr 6’1 185 lbs
Peyton Bowen Peyton Bowen 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Denton Guyer | 2023 State TX is an outstanding athlete. Peyton was the only I saw that played on both offense and defense. On offense Peyton is a strong and quick running back. Peyton is very tenacious and knows how to stay on his feet being very difficult to bring down. Peyton has also caught the attention of numerous amount of colleges and universities. Although, Peyton is still in his junior year he has already committed to The University of Norte Dame.

#17 Brooks Etheridge MLB Sr 6’1 195 lbs
Brooks Etheridge is a dependable middle linebacker. Brooks is strong and fast being able to stop run plays and pressure the quarterback. Brooks was able to tackle the running back one play and rip the ball out for a fumble. It is unfortunate that Brooks lost his final high school football game, but Brooks is a college prospect. Brooks has two offers from college and universities offers from; William Jewel College and Hendrix College.
#33 Marquan Pope FS, OLB Sr 6’2 200 lbs
Marquan Pope is a great free safety and outside linebacker. Marquan throughout the championships played linebacker. As a linebacker Marquan was very aggressive and involved in all the action. Marquan made a lot of tackles and even contributed to causing a fumble. It is unfortunate that Marquan lost his final high school football game, but Marquan is a top college prospect. Marquan has numerous amounts of offers from different colleges and universities. Although, Marquan has already committed to The University of Pittsburgh to continue his football career this upcoming fall.
