Turning the page to the 2022 season, let’s take a look at some defensive end’s in the 2024 class that are sure to have recruiters excited.
Brandon Davis-Swain Brandon Davis-Swain 6'4" | 230 lbs | DL West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI – DE/DL – West Bloomfield
Although he’s more of a hybrid defensive lineman, Davis-Swain shows a ton of promise as a defensive end. His size and athleticism are perfect for the position, and he showed tons of flashes on film in the 2021 season. Davis-Swain has a solid anchor on run defense and he’s able to stack and shed and make a tackle. He may be a brawler when he needs to, but the technical ability he has in pass rush is seriously impressive. Being as young as he is, those abilities will only enhance as he continues to play the game. Raw strength is noticeable all over the West Bloomfield defensive lineman’s tape. His power in his strike and the ability to finish tackles while being blocked are just two examples of some of that strength that you see when watching. Look for Davis-Swain to play a pivotal role for West Bloomfield once again next season and continue to garner interest from top FBS programs.
Tyler Dosh Tyler Dosh 6'0" | 225 lbs | DL Davison | 2024 State MI – DE/LB – Davison
The Davison defensive standout is another explosive pass rusher with an ability to beat offensive tackles off of the line of scrimmage. He won’t beat you in a 40 yard dash, but his short area quickness pops off the screen. Dosh stays low to the ground in run pursuit and has the vision to see the ball carrier and adapt to his lane. Toughness is a staple of Dosh’s game, especially when taking on pulls. He has great technique and can even avoid the blocker and make a tackle. His presence on the outside is felt as he maintains gap integrity and protects against counters/sweeps. A name to watch after an impressive sophomore season for Davison.
Magnuson Lars Lott Magnuson Lars Lott 6'0" | 220 lbs | DL Rochester Adams | 2024 MI – DE – University of Detroit Jesuit
It’s always nice to see athleticism on the outside, but some nastiness is needed when you constantly pursue the quarterback. Lars Lott shows a ton of nasty on film, with some forceful tackles. He takes clean lanes to the quarterback and has great instincts in his pass rush. A strong build and a big wingspan for the Cubs defensive end allows him to gain leverage on lineman and it’s tough for them to ever get it back. It’s no secret that the Catholic League is full of physical football in the trenches, and Lars Lott matched that intensity weekly. The Cubs defensive end can match his pass rush plan to the style of player he is facing. You see a nice variety of moves throughout his sophomore season film and that ability should improve as he gains more experience on the field.
