Lately, prospects have been blowing up in Ohio, and college coaches confirm it with offers. I don’t know that we have seen such a barrage of scholarship offers going out to young players from so many D1 schools. I like it; I love it, to be honest. The trend was typically only P5 schools would offer early, but now the group of five schools is getting in on the action. The transfer portal may have hurt the 21’s and 22’s, but this feels like the golden era of football. Let’s talk prospects to watch for this off-season.
Brendan Zurbrugg | QB
Alliance high school | 2024
6’3 180lbs
Brendan had an impressive 2021 season gaining him division one offers from both teams in the “The battle of I 75” (Toledo and Bowling Green). Zurbrugg sits in the pocket with confidence and seems to read a defense like a three-year starter. Brendan puts the ball where it needs to be with touch and timing. Now don’t sleep on his escapability as he has sneaky speed and quickness. Exciting young prospect to watch in 2022. Follow @BrendanZurbrugg/div>
Gabriel Lamerson | OL
Piketon high school | 2024
6’3 240lbs
Quick, tough, and has the frame to develop into something special for Piketon in 2022. Gabe was the primary pulling guard due to his athleticism and willingness to do his assignment. Gaining weight and improving balance will be important this offseason for Lamerson. I will be keeping tabs on this prospect. Follow @GabrielLamerson /div>
D’shawntae Jones | RB
Glenville high school | 2024
5’11 225lbs
Notes:
Powerful and sleek running back with flashes of Jerome Bettis, yes, I said it. This past season at Glenville, Jones recorded 857 rushing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 8.7 yards per touch. Expect to see this RB explode on the scene in 2022 for the Tarblooders. D’shawntae seems to have the intangibles to play LB if needed this fall as well.

Jasen Kelly Jr | LB-SS
Whitmer high school | 2024
6’1 190lbs
Notes:
The hard-hitting Athlete from Whitmer is a name to know on the scouting sheet if you’re the opposition. Kelly was in on over 80 tackles in 2021, with 49 of them being solo for the Panther’s defense. Jasen caused four fumbles recovered two of them also. Kelly is one of the top defenders to watch in NWO in 2022. Follow @JasenKelly2024
Dan Evans | ATH
Austintown Fitch hs | 2024
5’8 160lbs
Notes:
One of the fastest players in the Ohio class of 2024 and has the football skill to go with it. Dan has good hips and does an excellent job breaking on the ball. With Evans’s great hand-eye coordination also comes the ability to make open-field tackles. Expect to see Evans more involved in all three phases of the game for coach Parker’s group as he is very versatile.
