It was a grueling 9 Week Regular Season and one heck of a road to IHSA State for those that made the playoffs. After reviewing the film of the Top 40 teams in the class of 2A, we’re diving into the 2A All-State Offensive Edition. Without further ado, let’s dive into it.
1st Team
QB Max Lynch Max Lynch 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Pana | 2023 State IL 5’11 160 23′ Pana
Mr. Lynch runs the option as his legs are a legit threat to the opposing defense and he uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner. Once in open space, he weaves in and out of defenders and isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder as he fights for extra yards. When working in platform, he gets the ball off under pressure and adds a touch on the deep ball. He can navigate the pocket well as he steps up to deliver a strike downfield to keep the chains moving. This young man can add easy velocity across all three level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3) and if nothing is open downfield he can pull the ball down to scramble.

Mr. Deem can add a touch on the deep ball when working in platform and when working out of platform he evades pocket pressure to deliver a strike downfield keeping the chains moving. He can also add easy velocity across all three level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3). This young man runs the option as his legs are a legit threat to the opposing defense as he changes his gears quickly. Once in open space, he showcases his elusiveness by making defenders miss. He uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner and keeps his feet driving breaking weak arm tackles in the process.

Mr. Feagin has the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles as he bursts through the line of scrimmage and has that next level gear to outrun pursuit angles as well as blow by 2nd level defenders. He’s not afraid to lower his shoulder as he plays through contact and maintains a low center of gravity by keeping his feet driving breaking weak arm tackles in the process. When lined up as the wildcat QB, he uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner and once he’s in open space he weaves in/out of defenders which is how he breaks long runs.

Mr. Phillips can burst through the line of scrimmage as he finds the running lanes quickly between the tackles and uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner. He has that next level gear to outrun pursuit angles as well as blow by the 2nd level defenders and fights for extra yards playing through contact. This young man can find cutback lanes which is where he will plant his foot and go showcasing his change of direction while changing his gears quickly to break long runs. When split out wide, he’s quick off the line of scrimmage and attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with contested catches (a few times in double coverage).

Mr. Cook weaves in and out of defenders in open space after he burst through the line of scrimmage. He has the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles and has that next gear to outrun pursuit angles as well as blow by 2nd level defenders. This young man has the lateral quickness to turn the corner as well as find cutback lanes. Once he clears the first level, he maintains a low center of gravity to break weak arm tackles by keeping his feet driving.

Mr. Haag lines up in the slot, he’s quick off the line of scrimmage which he uses to stack the defender before breaking him off at the top of the route creating separation on the play. He can find the soft spot in zone coverage where he’ll sit to become an outlet for his quarterback and gets vertical upon securing the catch. Once in open space, he showcases his elusiveness by making defenders miss as well as weaves in and out of defenders. This is where his next level gear is showcased as he can outrun pursuit angles and blow past 2nd level defenders upon securing the catch. At times, he can line up in the backfield where he uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner. As a return man, he changes gears quickly upon getting vertical to get into the endzone.

Mr. Hackman is an outside receiver that attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with the contested catch and goes up for 50/50 balls. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage which he uses to stack the defender before breaking him off at the top of the route creating separation on the play and can win over the top with his speed. When going on deep shots downfield off fly routes, he tracks the ball well to secure touchdowns and upon securing the catch gets vertical. Once in open space, he can make the first defender miss showcasing his elusiveness and isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder to play through contact.

Mr. Turner lines up both inside and outside, both of which he’s quick off the line of scrimmage giving him the step advantage on the defensive back before stacking and breaking him off at the top of the route creating separation on the play. He can win over the top with his speed and attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with the contested catch as well as make the catch in traffic. This young man finds the soft spot in zone coverage where he’ll sit to become an outlet for his quarterback and uses his toe tap to come away with sideline endzone TD grabs. Upon securing the catch, he gets vertical quickly and when running jet sweeps he uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner.
OL Bryce Burnett Bryce Burnett 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Westville | 2022 State IL 6’4 270 22′ Westville Twitter
Mr. Burnett fires off the ball latching on quickly and showcases his power by driving the defensive lineman back 5+ yards. He finishes plays by keeping his feet driven through the whistle which comes in handy when he gets to 2nd level blocks to cut off linebacker flow. This young man can also wash the defensive lineman down and kicks out the defensive end when pulling.

Mr. Starks gets to the 2nd level blocks cutting off linebacker flow and washes the defensive lineman down after he fires off the ball latching on quickly. He has the power to drive the defensive lineman back 5+ yards and finishes by keeping his feet driving through the whistle. This young man is aggressive at the point of attack as he gets hands inside and drives the defensive lineman into the ground. In pass protection, he uses his lateral movement to patiently await the rushing defensive lineman to get within arms length before latching on.

Mr. Sanford washes the defensive lineman down and gets to 2nd level blocks to cut off linebacker flow. He gets out of his stance quickly when pulling which is where he’s used as a lead blocker to pick up the defensive back playing the alley as well as sealing the outside linebacker and kicks out the defensive end. This young man fires off the ball latching on quickly and showcases his power by driving the defensive lineman back 5+ yards downfield by finishing through the whistle.

Mr. Waterman is quick out of his stance when pulling and is physical at the point of attack where he knocks the defensive lineman down on kickout blocks. He can wash the defensive lineman down and showcases his power by driving the defensive lineman back 5+ yards downfield (at times throws them into the ground when doing so). In pass protection, he uses his lateral movement to patiently await the rushing defensive lineman to get within arms length before latching on.
2nd Team

Mr. Dodd can work out of platform, here he escapes pocket pressure and finds his man downfield to keep the chains moving. When working in platform, he can make level 3 throws adding a touch on the deep ball and gets the ball off under pressure. This young man can extend plays by navigating the pocket well as the pocket collapsed and finds his man downfield for the completion. His legs are a legit threat to the defense which is seen on QB design runs. Here, he uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner and fights for extra yards by playing through contact. When in open space, he can weave in and out of defenders.

Mr. Brummer can add easy velocity across all three level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3) when working in platform and can add a touch on the deep ball. His legal are a legit threat to the defense as he can pull the ball down to scramble as well as runs option plays. When scrambling, he keeps his feet driving to break weak arm tackles and fights for extra yards playing through contact. Once in open space, he weaves in and out of defenders further showcasing his abilities.

Mr. Friddle has the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackle and burst through the line of scrimmage upon doing so. He uses his lateral quickness to turn the corner and has that next level gear to outrun pursuit angles as well as blow by 2nd level defenders. This young man isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder to play through contact and fights for extra yards by keeping his feet driving. He can find cutback lanes well which is where he’ll utilize a quick cut to hit it as he changes gears quickly to break long runs.

Mr. Hankins gets vertical quickly upon securing the handoff as he bursts through the line of scrimmage and has the next level gear to outrun pursuit angles as well as blow by 2nd level defenders. He has the lateral quickness to turn the corner and keeps his feet driving breaking weak arm tackles in the process as well as breaking long runs. Once this young man is in open space, he weaves in and out of defenders as he changes his gears quickly.

He has the vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles as he bursts through the line of scrimmage and has that next level gear to outrun pursuit angles as well as blow by 2nd level defenders. Once in open space, he weaves in and out of defenders as well as makes the first defender miss showcasing his elusiveness. In the air attack, he can catch out of the backfield and gets vertical upon securing the catch.

Mr. Spence is an outside reciever that attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with contested catches (sometimes in double coverage) and can make the catch in traffic. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage which he uses to stack the defender before breaking him off at the top of the route creating separation on the play and can win over the top with his speed (seen with his fly and post routes). Upon securing the catch, he gets vertical before he weaves in and out of defenders in open space.

Mr. Hickey is an outside receiver that is quick off the line of scrimmage using his step advantage to stack the defender before breaking him off at the top of the route creating separation on the play and can win over the top with his speed. He attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with contested catches (once in double coverage for a touchdown) and goes up for 50/50 balls. Upon securing the catch, he keeps his feet driving breaking weak arm tackles in the process and stalk blocks downfield in the run game.

Mr. Provost is an outside receiver that can win over the top with his speed and is quick off the line of scrimmage which he uses to stack defenders before breaking them off at the top of the route creating separation on the play. He attacks the ball at the highest point to come away with contested catches and uses his toe tap to secure sideline grabs. This young man gets in and out of his routes quickly further breaking the defender off to create separation where he’ll lay out for catches at times and gets vertical upon securing the catch.

Mr. Hunter fires off the ball latching on quickly as he washes the defensive lineman down and gets to 2nd level blocks cutting off linebacker flow. In pass protection, he uses his lateral movement to patiently await the rushing defensive lineman to get within arms length before latching on.
OL Michael Alberts Michael Alberts 6'4" | 230 lbs | OL Clifton Central | 2023 State IL 6’4 231 23′ Clifton Central
Mr. Alberts finishes plays by keeping his feet driving through the whistle after he fires off the ball and latches on quickly. He washes the defensive lineman down and showcases his power by driving the defensive lineman back with his quick punch to get his hands inside at the point of attack. In pass protection, he uses his lateral movement to patiently await the rushing defensive lineman to get within arms length before latching on.
