The Best Quarterbacks of 2025
In this article:
The fall of 2021 wasn’t complete until a small number of freshmen stood out with their play behind center.
These four quarterbacks aren’t the only Class of 2025 standouts at their position – Prep Red Zone added three more in the athlete distinction (for now). However, what they did last season was give folks huge reason to begin following their careers a little earlier than most.
This is what stands out most among all four.
Brady Albro Brady Albro 5'10" | 190 lbs | QB Chapin | 2025 State SC , Chapin
The quarterback room at Chapin got a little more full this past fall when Albro joined the fray. Coach Justin Gentry already has Jayden Bradford Jayden Bradford 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Osceola | 2023 FL – the top QB and third-best overall player in the Class of 2024 – at his disposal. And now Albro is showing some scary abilities of his own. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound signal caller carved up JV opponents. Big deal, right? But when you see him in person or on film, you recognize the talent. Albro can make throws freshmen aren’t supposed to be able to make. Is he Bradford? Certainly not. But put him at most schools, and he’s the starter sooner rather than later.
Kaegan Chambers Kaegan Chambers 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB Chesterfield | 2025 NC , Chesterfield
Chambers (pictured) still has a ways to go in terms of form and mechanics, but it’s really hard to argue with his production. Last season, the 5-foot-10, 170-pounder threw for 1,200 yards and 20 scores while rushing for another 600 and three touchdowns. He may very well be the best dual-threat quarterback in the Class 2A Lower State field for the coming three seasons. Why do we think that? While wrapping this offense around Chambers, Chesterfield averaged 41.7 points per game last fall.
CHAMBERS HIGHLIGHTS ON QWIKCUT
Gavin Owens Gavin Owens 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Rabun Gap | 2025 State GA , Wren
Owens is primed to put up some eye-popping numbers at Wren. And if his freshman season (1,863 yards/14 touchdowns passing; 113 yards/three touchdowns rushing) was the introductions, we’re going to love getting to know him better. The 6-foot-4 lefty has a huge arm. What he’s also got is a family legacy – his brother was former Wren record-setter and state championship quarterback Joe Owens – and an affiliation with South Carolina quarterback whisperer Ramon Robinson, who has trained most of the state’s top quarterbacks in recent years.
Will Wilson Will Wilson 6'1" | 220 lbs | QB Richland Northeast | 2025 State SC , Richland Northeast
Wilson was impressing on a state-wide level as an eighth grader, when he ran one of the legs of CA Johnson’s state championship 4X400 relay team and some middle-distance events. When his dad took the job at nearby Richland Northeast, the Cavaliers had a new quarterback, too. Wilson, a dual-threat signal caller, threw for 987 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 855 and eight. The Cavs won three games, which was a breakthrough for a team that hadn’t won any since 2019. The quarterback’s production in the seven games he played was instrumental in the relative turnaround.
