Every one of these guys are college prospects, and every one of these guys comes from a very balanced offense, something that I have observed being incredibly important to a team’s success. So now, here are the 4 best receivers I watched in 2021!
Grand Blanc WR Nasir Carson
Carson was a vital part of Grand Blanc’s offense, and I would argue they wouldn’t have made it to the semifinals without him. He was a steady pass catcher, and you could tell the team looked up to him. His routes were smooth, and Carson sometimes made incredible catches, especially during crunch time. D3 offers are rolling in with a PWO from Northwood (DII). I’m hoping he begins receiving more offers soon.
DeWitt WR Tommy McIntosh Tommy McIntosh 6'4" | 180 lbs | WR DeWitt | 2022 State MI
The Wisconsin commit was electrifying during the state championship. Watching him from the press box, you could tell how talented McIntosh is. He’s got the best hands I’ve seen all year, and there truly isn’t a weakness to his game. I would 100% say that McIntosh was the best receiver I watched in 2021.
Rockford WR Alex McLean Alex McLean 5'7" | 165 lbs | WR Rockford | 2023 State MI
McLean came up big for Rockford when they needed him most. My first time watching McLean was against Grandville during the regular season, and he was imposing after the catch. He lines up in the slot but is also a genuine deep threat. He has a great build and high competitive spirit. McLean Good-Elite in just about every category, and he’ll surely be more dangerous than ever this coming season.
De La Salle WR Triston Nichols Triston Nichols 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR De La Salle | 2023 State MI
The Pilots receiving core heading into 2022 is stacked, with Nichols leading the charge. The C/O 2023 receiver made it look easy against Traverse City Central, absolutely burning their secondary multiple times for easy-looking plays. Nichols has a great release with excellent route running and speed. His athleticism is through the roof, making him an incredibly tough cover for any corner in the state. I only saw one great half from Nichols (DLS Eased on the gas pedal in the 2nd half), but I do not doubt that Nichols will have a career year in 2022. De La Salle may have the best coaching staff in the state with countless fantastic players, and some transfer rumors will surface soon.
Belleville WR Jeremiah Caldwell Jeremiah Caldwell 6'3" | 175 lbs | ATH Belleville | 2022 State MI
Dominance in the state championship, NO corner was any match for Caldwell. Incredible size, speed, strength, you name it. He’s likely to play in the SEC, and he certainly deserves it.
