Steven Christion Steven Christion 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Lennox | 2022 State – Lennox
Christion was the playmaker for the Oriole football team. He was the momentum swinger in some games I was able to catch, anytime they were trailing he would always get the ball and score to give the Orioles momentum in key moments. He has tremendous speed to be a very dangerous vertical threat. When they need a play the ball was going his way most of the time. He did a great job turning the DB the opposite way of his intended route, then burning him deep. He also displayed a good vertical and the determination to come down with a ball in tight coverage. He was also used in special teams and made the opponent regret kicking to him, could really flip the field or score easy if given any kind of space to accelerate.
Klayton Sattler Klayton Sattler 6'5" | 210 lbs | WR Tea Area | 2022 State – Tea Area
Sattler helped make the Titan offense extra explosive and versatile, giving them a big play guy outside the tackles. The most impressive thing I picked up on in film was that he would win the play in his first two to three steps. He did a great job in getting his defender off-balance, then blowing right past him and creating a lot of space on the route. He showed a lot of speed, jumping ability, and also had the attitude to high-point and come down with the ball on top of the defender. I also was impressed with his spacial awareness along the sideline and his focus to catch the ball and get his feet down inbounds.
Josh Piper Josh Piper 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR SF Washington | 2022 State – Sioux Falls Washington
Piper was the ultimate possession receiver for the Warriors. Didn’t matter if he was pressed, doubled or in traffic in the middle of the field, if the ball came his way, he was coming down with it. He ran great routes to get separation, and if no one came to get him after he caught the ball, he was going to make a big play. He had just enough speed where if you didn’t respect him, he’d run right past you. He also had the vision and just enough agility to turn a small play into a big play with a one-cut move to spring himself for the big play. He also had the strength to rip the ball from a defender, or run the defender over on a catch-and-run.
Reece Proefrock Reece Proefrock 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Vermillon | 2022 State – Vermillion
Proefrock was the Hidden Gem I tagged early in the year after really emerging as a playmaker in his Junior Season. With a new coaching staff and new mentality, he really stepped into a huge role on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he was used in both the rushing and passing game. He was a take care of business runner, nothing flashy, just take the ball and get as many yards as possible and make many players take you down. As a receiver, he ran good routes for separation for possession and really focused on securing the catch for yardage. Another receiver who’s speed you also needed to respect, and if you didn’t finish the play, he was going to finish it for you. He was also a dangerous asset in special teams as well, given enough space and at full-speed, he wasn’t going to be caught. Defensively, he was a role player, just did his job and made plays that came to him. He wasn’t going to throw the big hit on every play, but he was going to make the tackle.
Peyton Millis Peyton Millis 6'3" | 160 lbs | WR Spearfish | 2022 State – Spearfish
Millis is the ’Under the Radar’ receiver. While his team finished under .500 he and many of his teammates put together a nice season for Spearfish. The kid also shows dedication, traveling across the state to attend showcases and really put on a good show from what I’ve heard. After watching film, he will give his best effort to try to help his team win, on both sides of the ball, made it hard for me to decide which article to put him in, WR or DB. He will surprise you with his speed because he has pretty smooth running form, which helps him sell his routes and stop-and-go routes. He can be used as a vertical threat or possession target with how good his routes are run and his hands. He is a very physical blocker, which he brings the same physicality over to the defensive side at Safety. Along with good ball sense, that makes him a good defender all around the defensive backfield.
