Being cold at the All Ohio showcase in Findlay would be an understatement; it was late November playoff-type weather this past weekend in NW Ohio. Freezing temperatures give you a glimpse of who has the mental capacity to continue to compete despite the uncontrollable factors. The 96 athletes that participated went to experience what it feels like to play ball in such conditions, and most did well. Here is my Offensive MVPs from Findlay.
Kaden Holmes Kaden Holmes 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Fremont Ross | 2023 State OH c/o 2023 – Fremont Ross
QB MVP and Fastest Man
Notes:
I’ll repeat it; one college football program will get an outstanding student-athlete in Kaden Holmes Kaden Holmes 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Fremont Ross | 2023 State OH , a big-time sleeper. Holmes is no stranger to PRZ, and we know a lot about this gifted athlete who can get the job done on both sides of football. Kaden came to Findlay ready to compete at a high level and was quickly seen as the top QB in the group. Making tough throws is what Kaden did all Saturday long, from position drills to 1v1s and open field. On this day, Holmes was also a top defender and looked good at DB; he also went on to win the fastest man at the camp.
Terrie Scales c/o 2023 – Lima Senior
RB – MVP
Notes:
Scales stood out from the start of the agility stations as he was moving through drills with a purpose. Tierre’s footwork seems to be above average, and his work ethic was evident as he took leadership in his group. During the 1v1s with the LBs, Tierre showed off his catching and lateral quickness skills and ability to catch the football. Scales is a new prospect on my radar, and with limited reps in 2021, you can expect to see Scales make a splash for the Spartans this fall. Terrie will be RB1 this fall, and he gave us a good preview of his skills.
Maddix Crutchfield c/o 2023 – Van Wert
WR – MVP
Notes:
The crafty and fluid route runner from Van Wert put on a route running clinic last weekend at the All- Ohio Showcase in Findlay. Maddix made an early impression on scouts and coaches with his clinic tape-style routes and impressive catches. One thing is for sure; he knows how to get open! Maddix has soft hands when the ball is zipped at him and did not drop many passes. Crutchfield made a play where he was running a whip route, stumbled, got his balance, and made a complex one-hand catch look effortless.
Elijah Williams c/o 2024 – Toledo Central Catholic
Offensive Line – MVP
Notes:
The All Ohio Showcase is known for discovering new and young lineman prospects, and it stands true with the 6’2 270 lb center from the Fighting Irish. As a sophomore, Williams started for the Irish and showed his willingness to drive defenders and help on double teams. Using good techniques during one on ones and going over the bags in drills with confidence showed why Williams has the potential of being of D1 prospect. With two more years ahead of him, he will be a name to know in the trenches in NWO.
